I'm playing Fate now, does it get any better?

I expected a masterpiece, but for now the story is a let down.. it's just about getting the holy grail, no mistery (except Archer), no mind fuck and the sex ruined some character for me.

And i fucking hate Shirou, why i can't play as Rin?

>> No.3733527

>sex ruined some character for me.
This isn't the genre for you then.

You're a fucking idiot.

Welcome to the VN scene. Even top tier games have mediocre writing at best.

I loved Ever17 and Umineko

>> No.3733543

If you're in it for the sex scenes, skip the game. First arc was meh. Second was much better. Third was the best. Story-wise, at least, and for the protagonist's growth.

There's your problem. You're supposed to keep your expectations low in order to enjoy stuff like this.

I know, it's just that i heard really a lot of people calling this a masterpiece and the best VN.

I never saw anyone say seriously that FSN is a masterpiece, well except for the most deluded faggots but they don't count.
It's a good VN but not a top tier one.

Fans say things. Can't you understand that atleast?

Of course fans are going to say it's a masterpiece.

I love the damn VN, and all material associated with it.
I think it's great.

But that's just it. I think it's great. it's what I think. My opinion.

Opinions are like asses, everyone has one, and they vary, from ass to ass, from opinion to opinion.

Mehh... I'd say it's more like mediocre writing coasting along tsukihimes popularity.
It tends to get dragged down by long, repetitive descriptions everywhere.
Well, it's decent, but not one of the best IMO.

>> No.3733583

>>3733561

I'd say it's top-tier and a masterpiece in production values, at least.

I have yet to see any VN with as many sound effects and animation effects (without having actual animation).

The main strength of FSN and Type-Moon stuff in general is their nice, detailed modern fantasy world. The writing itself is not so good, there's a reason people joke about Nasu all the time.

>> No.3733599

I'd rather do without them as they get pretty old after the prologue.

There's no major breakthrough coming, but I distinctly remember that I hated the early parts of F/SN - so much time wasted on boring breakfast-eating and giving excessively long introductions to superficial characters that would have no story importance. After the plot started rolling, I began to like it more.

>> No.3733651

F/SN is the most overrated VN ever made. It's not bad, but it'll definitely let you down if you expect something amazing. Just play it for what it is. Or don't, if you don't enjoy it.

It's just a VN, not a master piece. You'll either enjoy it for the intricate world and characters and magic system or hate it for it's tedious explanations, redundancy and slow pace in some parts. Keep going if you have the patience to see if it's interesting, stop playing if you don't. It really is that simple.

You can. Just ignore the actual game and re-play the intro over and over again.

This. I really feel like it's a gigant tutorial, EVERY thing required some explanation of justification.

Also, i really felt like i'm knowing were the story is going.. for now it's all about home-fight-home-fight with explations in between... there were a lot of interesting characters who just disapeared.

Yes, the prologue with Rin was AGES better than the stuff with Shirou, and yeah, I think most of /jp/ would have liked to see the game from Rin's POV. Then we could have gotten a route with Archer, Lancer, and Ayako . . .

Hell, that should be some project that /jp/ does. Get an awesome artist, some really good writer and stuff and get together to make a fan FSN vn that's all from Rin's pov. Like KS or something, but with more fighting.

>> No.3735269

>>3735263
I think probably 60-75% of the interest in Rin being protagonist is the appeal of receiving the jackhammer.

>> No.3735291

>>3735263
Not really, no.
Interactions with Archer was the appeal, and it's exactly good because of limited doses.
As a protagonist in the whole mess, she'd be boring.
The story is tailored for Shirou, anyone else would not work or would make for a very different, probably worse story.

3735304

>>3735291
Well, at this point it would be a new story, or a set of three new stories. One of which would be with Ayako for ultimate hotness. Besides, Rin would probably do better with a more candid and older lover like Archer or Lancer if going for a male partner.

Fate is the worst route, and you will have to wait until the end for the Fate route to become decent. Altough the other two routes share some of the pacing isse, they are superior in every aspect and the true strength of FSN is to play the game route for route.
