Arcade piracy has very little impact on their bottom line since it largely happens in places where they're not selling the games anyhow. Anywhere outside of Asia or US Round1 is pretty irrelevant.
People with access to real e-amuse are going to continue to use it so that they're able dickwag in the most legit way. The arcade market in Japan is getting smaller, which is why they've been pushing the konasute and arespear stuff so hard.

The music has tons of swing like other 2-step tracks in IIDX, but the chart is almost entirely regular 16ths for some reason. The tracks were sliced wrong and several keysounds start with a gap of silence. The most obvious offenders are the bass kick rolls at 504, 659, and 790 combo, but the problem is persistent throughout the chart.

From my experience, the people who don't "get" horizontal reading also don't get things like ガチ押し. Sure, part of it is just "learning how to read" on a basic level, but it becomes an important and active mental process when trying to score well or interpret polyrhythm disasters like Ganymede correctly. It's the difference between being able to mash through 12s and being able to 98% them.

I'd argue Tricoro is where the game started to have a pretty reasonable progression path from 9's and 10's to 11's and 12's. Spada had some wacky 11's that got you used to technical charts and density earlier than they had before, and Pendual filled in a lot of the gaps left, alongside all of the ease of life features included in each.

Yes Lincle had really good boss progression. tricoro+ they basically stopped making 8-9 anothers to rrally bulk up the 11s. Playing 11s now I'm like "oh this is a stepping stone to OML" when I played a fuck ton of Empress OML was such an outlier climbing 12s. What else.. idk like Wanna Party? SPL is a great precursor to thunder remix SPL. just stuff like that that they didn't really do too well until then.

You can start anywhere and stop anywhere once you decide which type of gameplay you prefer.
HMPD is particularly accessible thanks to being designed for a regular dualshock before FT, and while taiko isn't that good without the drums, it only needs 4 keys/buttons of any kind.
Though you may want to pick up Stepmania/Etterna before touching any of the vertical scroll arcade stuff everyone plays, if you're interested in those.

Any suggestions on how to extend my physical endurance? I play a lot of doubles, but 12's and 13's are usually my limit because after a few hours of play, my legs start to give out and I physically cannot do the songs I want to try.

I'll be honest, I don't do any lifting. All my leg muscles are primarily from playing high level DDR for many hours a week for years. However, lifting would probably be good for you since it sounds like you're not at the skill level where you can build substantial leg muscle from DDR alone. A gym membership would be good. Check out this workout routine if you wanna work on everything instead of just legs, it works pretty well.
