Both guides are p similar.
tatsumoto is basically just a slightly updated Itazuraneko guide that the creator wants to make money off of, and that has a lot of asenine points due to his stupid views on software, and shills a lot, overall feels quite slimy IMO.
The normal Itazura guide should serve you just as well or better, and you won't be missing out on anything of value.
If you really want a newer one that's less slimy, use https://learnjapanese.moe/

Programming is much easier to learn IMO.
You learn a constructed system, with carefully layered instructions, you can get a lot of feedback instantly, if something is wrong you can tell and fix it.
Learning a language is much more "freeform", it quickly devolves into just "input and hope your brain starts to pick up patterns, good luck!".

You can do what I do, which is I play in english, but I will try to essentially type what I hear into deepl and see if the translation matches (to be honest, I only do this in the sex scenes).
deepl isn't perfect though, I need to fix up the kanji of course, and sometimes I feel like it's interpretation isn't perfect (but it's surprising how sometimes the english translations may actually be saying something completely different... it makes you feel good because you an unlocking the true meaning of their words, like they would say "I FEEL SO GOOD", but in reality they say "PULL IT OUT").

So I’ve hit the wall in learning Japanese. I’m about 6 months in and I’m almost finished with genki 1 and I’m only level 6 on wanikani.

Here is my dilemma: I started learning Japanese because of my hobby of drinking Japanese green tea. This got me into a couple of good anime’s that I enjoy rewatching and even picked up the manga for HXH that I’ve been reading (in English). I also love the food. However, as much as I love Japanese culture I’m feeling like giving up on learning Japanese and trying to learn a different language.

I’m a geology student in college right now so school is taking up a lot of time and leaves me with not that much energy to work on Japanese besides a little wanikani and a little genki here and there. So I’m progressing at a snails pace.

What I want to do is quit Japanese so I can start learning German (which my mother speaks) so I can reach fluency in another language quicker than I would with Japanese. Heck, I could probably learn German and Spanish to fluency in the time it would take to learn Japanese. I feel like it’d be more useful and easier to learn those languages since I have more resources for them and can use them more often. I never speak have the chance to speak in Japanese so it’s hard to hone my speaking skills whereas with German I have my mom to speak to and practice.

So I ask you guys for advice: does it make sense to keep studying Japanese or should I move on to a more feasible language that I could learn much quicker?

yeah jamal had a good idea. posting on social media should be tied to a (government run) system where you identify yourself, and the system grants you access to the social media. if you insult people and send them death threats, your access gets revoked. of course some offenses are worse than others, so it could be tied to points. you start with 10 points, and if you post a minor insult, one point gets deducted. if you send a death threat, you automatically go down to 0 and can't post anymore. i think a social points system, or social credit system if you will, could work really well
