The list was constructed using the average ELO rating of the top 10 players of each character from the Japanese Tenco ladder. Obviously ladder ratings can change over time but the chart serves as a snapshot of game balance that is more accurate than anything else we have right now, and shouldn't be casually dismissed, especially since there are no major swings in ratings happening at this point.
http://tenco.info/game/2/pov/1/type1/
You can see that the #1 player on the ladder is actually a Reisen, despite Reisen being a middle-of-the-pack character overall. However the next best Reisen is only #71. There are multiple top 20 Yuyukos, yet the earliest China is #67.
Should the chart somehow change the way you play the game? No. Is it more accurate than the yammerings of even the best /jp/ players? Yes, in every imaginable way.

Generally, you don't counterattack, you jump/high jump and try to escape. If you know that they're at a point in their string where they use a bullet move (ie they're being predictable), then you can 66c, or just graze and aaaa.

Nonsense, absolute nonsense. Listen, here's what you gotta do: you have to attack so often that they never even get a chance to fight back! Once you lay down the pressure, matches are over quickly and in your favor! Try to avoid using bullets, while you're at it.

Just remember: relying on projectiles is a waste. Beating them directly feels better.

Actually, ZUN said the reason that Mokou and Kaguya aren't in is because they're too powerful. Mokou having a bad character? That's something fandom provided. In canon, Mokou isn't even tsundere. Because Cirno or China deserve to be in a direct combat game against Yukari, Reimu, or Suika.

If Mokou would be in a game which I doubt, she should have a pain bar, in which rises after every defeat until it reaches the top. Then the opposing player would win. Same goes for Kaguya and any other character that won't die, I guess.

His SWR2 Marisa is somewhere between solid and ridiculously gimmicky. His pressure can be overwhelming, but he also gets away with a lot of theoretically wrong stuff--like somehow being able to poke first after his 66A is blocked (minus on block, naturally), Also he did a lot of broomride (default 214) canceled into aerials, similar to Bosky Sweeper gimmicks.

Take away his gimmicks (which fall apart at higher levels of play) and he's... just okay, I guess. I haven't had a chance to play him in over a month, I wonder if I can finally beat him now.

I don't know where you're getting the idea Yukari can defeat Mokou so easily. Both are about the same age, both are Extra Bosses, and both clearly have a lot of potential.

The only difference I see is that ZUN said Mokou and Kaguya are too powerful to be in the game. That alone should be enough to convince you it won't be nearly as easy as you say it is. If anything, I'd say you're picking favorites. We go by facts here. Provide that or stay put.

Though your pressure, corner especially, was fairly predictable and 90% of the time I could just dash and punish because I knew a bullet was coming, there really isn't much I can criticize.
Thanks for the games and keep up that loli fightan, brah.

I don't really blame you; it was something I struggled with for a longass time too. With Marisa you just need to realize that dp is your LIFE and use it whenever you get the chance; mixing up bullets with melee is unavoidable for her, still, but your patterns were nearly always the exact same so I knew when to graze. What you want to do is do melee/bullet until they start realizing they can graze, THEN you bait them with your dp. Not 100% effective but I guarantee it'll make them change their minds.
Also, cool story bro. The one behind my name is far less ineresting, pic related ;_;

Oh lurker, it's alright, I'll fill in for you. Here we go:
GGs Duckator, when we first started playing the first thing I thought was "man, this Alice sucks, first round and she already ate exactly 476 66Cs in a row." I stopped counting at exactly 10,348 66Cs but it was fun for a while.

Either way you're a pretty cool dude no matter times I 66C you, after a while I think I'd better go and replace those roadsigns because they're getting really old though. You'd be surprised at how bent out of shape they can get from impaling lolis all the time; shit's really a problem.

If that were true, Marisa would be garbage. Not to mention many of us choose to use alt. 623 Bosky Sweeper, which doesn't have any invincibility frames and is a DP only in input, not properties.

I didn't watch the games, but Marisa has plenty of ways to make people think twice for her blockstrings. Mix up between 5A, 5AA, 5AAA, 5AA 3A, 2A, 2A 3A melee starters before using bullets. Or stagger melee once in a while. There's even the amusing empty aerial hj9 3D which can make people flinch. She's got plenty of effective choices that don't involve psychic DPs at all.

I had fun too. Interesting topic about playstyles, I've had troubles defining another type of playstyle with Patchi, it seems to me that the way we play with her is the only decent one - not to sound ignorant. I should probably watch some Japanese replays. They always seem to be able to make out some magic with every character. In our match is was much about looking ahead of eachother, and wait for the right oppurtinities while shooting some bullets here and there. Funny how you do the fireball special after a 66b while I do a 5c. Funny looking at those details.

Yeah, I found that interesting as well. I wonder which one did more damage. When you were cornering me and used bullets on the ground I usually tried to dash out with a 66b but I ended up 66c in my face. During the first matches we managed to slam each other with the 66c on the wall, I should use this move more often.

So I noticed, but I also noticed that you adapted and returned the favor a couple of times. Haha, I laghed at every single double slam, hands down to the 100% symmetrical one, it was like art. I'd kill myself if it even was a double KO.

66c is probably Patchi's best ground defence melee move, but it's important not to overuse it, thus giving away Patchi's ability to bite back in certain events. Kicking back rushing Youmus like that is the best.

I'm glad I'm not alone with this weird loud laughing habit. I was hoping for a double-KO for the perfection as well, maybe next time, and yes 66c is evilly fast ground move. If a character has a too fast ground dash, she may just run straight in it. Against Sakuya's 66c it's a great counter-measure as well

Not possible, 5AA won't connect. You can gain a little extra with 5A 5C, but noting more than that. 5A 5C does about 500 more damage than just the fireball special. You can connect 6C with 236B/C, that will do equal damage as 5A 5C, but it's more akward to time. If you upgrade your specials it gets different of course. In case of bouncy weather a regular 236C will still hit. That's what I found out at least, correct me if I'm wrong at any points.

The first of these makes sense because the game froze and one poor anon just had really bad timing. The rest of the failures I really have no idea what went wrong; sorry bros. We seemed to play just fine.

Well, GGs Magister. Super tourneyfag god as always, even on day 1 of a new toohoo. ;_;
Though really, I think with having timestops as SCs instead of just system cards is something you can utilize well, I may even go far to say you should start running her instead of Komatits.
There's also the fact that it's you, meaning that I'm too busy shitting myself to push buttons on a controller -- but hey, that's something we all get over eventually... right?
Right? ;_;

GGs dude you gave me a rough time there I wasn't expecting such a good player connecting. I wish I couldve been a bit better but I was messing way to much crap up.(like ran in the wrong direction.)

Anybody posting their IPs will eventually end up being a part of my botnet. Unless you've patched that activex exploit in the adobe acrobat plugin, your ass is mines.

I don't know if you mean Central Mexico or something, but that is pretty unplayable. I'll pass.

GGs.
This should have killed you! But no! Spellcard Invincibilty etc fuck you.
And no, I'm not at all angry because of that loss (I haven't played for some time, so generally nothing worked (like highjumps) or the the loss because sunshower ruined 90% of my lifebar), I'm angry because Tasofro can't program their game correctly, so I had to reproduce this scene in vs player since the actual replay is horribly desynched after 30 seconds.

Hahahaha, I know, most higher level spellcards are such bullshit with their invincibility frames.
And I'd turn off weather instantly if we would've gotten that option, but alas, it's hard being a tourney fag.

Thanks.

I had to play totally defensive to have a chance against your Reimu. And then I had about half the spellcards filled than you. Getting out of those strings and mostly j6A was hard and then I accidentally airteched sometimes.

And what was that with my 5card spellcard? I had you in it, and instead of staying in there for thousands of damage, you were immediately thrown away for some 500 damage.

What I hated the most is that you jumped over my 66C approaches (while you fired bullets) even though it's a jump kick, and the only time I hit you with it, you blocked it.

The most damage I got out of you was by intercepting your jumps and j8A. Unfortunately, Komachi's j2A got me evertime when I tried a j8A because of huge range.
