Wouldn't the bat be more comfortable with the light turned off?

Did you know the tube-lipped nectar bat has a tongue longer than its body with which it reaches down flowers with very long petal structures?

The tongue starts from the rib cage.

I'm more in a bird mood today. That new Andrew Zuckerman book on birds looks nice.

Bats aren't blind, in fact they're fairly good at seeing compared to other animals that have other developed senses (sharks, for example, aren't that good at seeing. Sometimes, worms eat their eyeballs and this actually benefits the shark because it can sense just fine and the wriggling eyeball worms attract fish to the shark! )

But even their echolocation can be fooled, several nocturnal moths can produce soft click sounds in their wake to daze chasing bats.
