People hated TakaJun? I always thought that everyone appreciated his efforts, specially considering the time, and doubly so considering he was a Nip translating to English despite not being all that fluent on it.
Everyone has know his FSN translation was not the best, but it was serviceable enough. I'm sure more than one person here, and many many others, wouldn't be here if not for his TL. Hell, I'm sure his TL is the reason many people went and learned Japanese so they'd be able to read more TM things in the future.

Although if you want details Takajun's dogshit writing includes:

Weird tense switches like 'she asked for an everyday event'. Have no idea what 'asking for an event' even means.
The sentence that ends with 'held for her' is such a clunky syntactical jumble.
'lit-up eyes' is a clunky two part verb being used as an adjective. Surely there's a better alternative.
'seeing her in high spirits lifts my own' is a godawful construction which glues the two verbs together awkwardly.
The sentence fragment 'but I finally realize' hanging by itself is awkward

>Almost two years ago today, I started a project to write a new translation of Type-Moon’s seminal 2004 visual novel Fate/stay night. At the time a very good friend of mine was reading it for the first time at my recommendation, and grappling with the less than stellar translation released by the fan group Mirror-Moon in the late aughts. I had read through it again in Japanese the previous year, which was what prompted me to recommend it to my friend in the first place, and when I went back and looked at the old Mirror-Moon translation that I had read first I was frankly shocked. In broad strokes all the content was there, but where was the imagery? The poetry? The character of Kinoko Nasu’s prose and dialogue that made the characters almost seem to pop off the screen? Reading the Mirror-Moon translation was, not to put too fine a point on it, like looking at a faded black and white photograph of a Da Vinci or a Rembrandt. You can tell that the original work is something truly special, but the representation of it is lifeless and flat.
Seeing that; in order that my friend could more fully appreciate this novel that had been living rent-free inside my head for much of the previous decade, I decided, confident enough in my Japanese skills after 10 years of study and in my own English writing, that I would translate some of the novels more pivotal scenes for her, so that she could have some idea of how they read to me in the language in which they were written.

I mean fuck off, it is a goddamn eroge, not bloody LOTR or a fine work of art.
Nasu's best prose is being wasted, people are not being able to actually know what is Nasu's best material, all because of a ripoff of Battle Royale.
If you are going to rip something off, make it something more high brow, like Evangelion.

What do you think about Saiki Goto and what will be his role? Do you think he will play a big part during the Far side? I was always very fond of the Demon Hunter Organization vs Mixed-Blood families plotline so it's a good thing that we got some lore on the Saiki family. Kagetsu Tohya was very meager on this part so i really hope Nasu plan is to expand it even more during the remake of the Far side.

It's relatively short but what's there is better than Apocrypha. The way it plays with its themes is also really great with the whole game being an illustration of Twice thesis : Hakuno starting as a blank state overcoming better opponents than him (both in terms of power but also morally as they all have better reasons than him to win the war). It's also the only fate entry that captures the dread of having to kill your opponents.
The buddhist are really cool too with each stage symbolizing a step to enlightenment

Noel's DA design and Arach definitely do not fit in Tsukihime. Though, in reality, their fleeting appearances can't remotely ruin the tone. Noel might be in the climatic moments of Ciel's character conclusion but I can look past it on virtue of how well Noel added to Ciel's character in the first place. As well as the reasoning given to why she looks like a child and even sexualised doesn't totally break my suspension of disblief. Definitely a negative, but not game spoiling.

Nasu goes out of his way for Shiki to make a note on how Vlov doesn't fit the vampire stereotype (despite aethetically fitting and having a CG dedicated to biting into a woman's neck) due to his fire based abilities. Nrvnqsr definitely does that whole thing better, but there's still clearly an intention to keep this sentiment.
He says Tsuki is about personal conflicts above all, but Nrvnqsr was never really a personal conflict that meant anything. Roa and now Noel, however are, and they both are still kept small scale and do not involve other people. It feels like Vlov's intention was to actually outright say what if normal people get caught up in this? and surely at some point people do. This ends up giving Arc both a reason to job in the fight and develops a compassion for humans due to Shiki, an element that becomes notably contrasted in Ciel's route when he doesn't explicitly help Arc in the same way. It also adds a little bit to the world building when we see how the church covers up events like this.

I do sort of understand his pacing concerns, though in regards to only Ciel's route, it does have that FSN style bloat of repetitive personal scenes with the heroine and then also drop some exposition to make the scene have some meaning. Even if it's literally joked about in the text itself, Shiki thinking Ciel would disappear three times is tiresome. Arc's route reorganised some scenes to improve the pacing even, and since the central theme of the route rely on her and shiki's interactions, nearly all of it felt organic; a decent contributor to why I still prefer Arc's route to Ciel's new route despite how much better Nasu wrote Ciel's character arc.
