The n00b avenger is translating it now (the guy who managed Sharin no Kuni in around 3 months) so, with slightly more than a third text left, he could finish G-Senjou no Maou in about 5 weeks if he keeps the same pace. Whether or not the full game will be released this year will depend on the editors.

>> No.3645106

>> No.3645103

>Best translated game of 2009?
I agree with Cross Channel though having read the first chapter of Sharin no Kuni yesterday it looks like it's going to be close.
Awesome protag, consistently amusing dialogue between the characters, funny 'best friend' and interesting pieces of the story being uncovered bit by bit. And it's beating Umineko on VNDB now: http://vndb.org/v57

KiraKira and Family Project were major disappointments. Finished all routes but the endings themselves (well, half) were the only redeeming features.
Considering how damn long they were you'd hope they could actually make the slice-of-life stuff good enough to draw you in or throw in some interesting plot.

>> No.3645112

>>3645103
I loved the slice of life in Kira Kira far more than in most other eroge.
It actually felt kinda natural, the characters acted and interacted in a way that felt refreshingly realistic.

You can't deny that Sakuraba is pretty much best character like this that there's been in VN. But yeah, Sharin has good one too.

Unless you're the kind of person that can read a VN within a couple of days I'd recommend starting Sharin now.
It's been fully translated and the remaining editing (9%) will only take about a week or so. The patch out at the moment includes the text for chapters 1 to 3 (of 5).

>> No.3645155

>>3645122

Seconded, Sunohara is the god of best friend characters (at least for VNs w/ English translations).

>> No.3645171

I liked Family Project slightly more than Cross Channel, so for me that has been the best translated game of 2009.

>>3645116
Is Sakuraba one of those minor characters that /jp/ greatly exaggerates the awesomeness of, or did I somehow miss a ton of scenes with him? He wasn't even in the game much and when he did appear he wasn't that good of a character.

>> No.3645197

>>3645122
>>3645155
Have you read Sharin or Cross Channel? It's a matter of opinion but I'd place Sunohara just behind both of them.
Between Sakuraba and Isono I can't really make a decision since Sakuraba just doesn't get enough 'screentime' despite being awesome. Plus Kurosu and Miki take most of the comedic spotlight themselves in CC.

Another copy pasta:

A Comyu is a team of randomly chosen 5 people, who are forced to create a team (a Comyu) to control an Avatar in form of big monster shit. If an Avatar dies, those 5 people dies as well. The only way to level up your Avatar is to kill other Avatar. Now you can guess where it's going.

Protagonist is the opposite of Shirou because he's a feminazi. If people die, as long as they're male, it's perfectly fine. The scenario is designed so that every characters in the game has some relation with all this Comyu business. Four routes before unlocking Kagome (true) route. Who is a kukri wielding mysterious witch (bitch) like Beatrice who can pawn literally everyone's asses without Avatar.

Cover. Kagome is the black haired bitch. The four routes girls are two at upper left corner and two at bottom. The maid and the white haired sadistic bro have no route. Oh you can also have sex with every one of the female cast.

There are classes in Comyu; the protagonist is high class Bishop, Benio (twintail, idiot girl) is a rogue, Mayuki (toad cap, most comedic loli) is a guard, Haru the maid is mage, Izawa is fighter. Those roles determine the strength and control of their Avatar.

Compared to Ruitomo, Comyu has less wordplay and more action. So they're more easy for translation. 2.83MB script. Both of these game have the same artist/writer/staff, and the fanbase seems to be very satisfied with these two products; compared to Japanese Sharin fans getting let down by G-senjou.
