The origin of. Where does it come from, as in, what originally inspired it? I've never seen it anywhere else, so I'm guessing something shinto, since buddhism would show it up elsewhere. Or so my exhaustive research (google) tells me.

Just.. hold one hand infront of you. Feel silly. Vertical, with the knife edge of your hand directly opposite you, infront of your face. Extend your first two fingers straight up, curl the thumb and the rest in. Cup your other hand and place it below the heel of your hand. That's what I mean.

It's none of the gestures listed so far. What he's describing is the one you do simply by holding one hand in front of you, palm upwards, and above that hand holding your other hand, pointing at the ceiling with your first two fingers.

I've seen it lots of times and I have to assume it's some shinto shit.
