Personally I find this decidion shit. But I guess they have to do it because of the countless Arabs,Indians and Chinese.

I like the idea. In Europe you can register domain names with accented characters, but this really doesn't mean anything. Those sites are accessible with their english abc equivalent, so practically they own 2 domain names.
I can understand why Google sees profit in this.
