Being outdated is not a bad thing, I just think that the younger players need their amusement to have themes that make the game feel new and reflect the society they know. Being set in the past works for Mahou Tsukai no Yoru because the economic bubble is an actual theme there, but Tsukihime is about Arcueid, not a period of time. That's why I thought I should update the setting while preserving the themes of each character.

I know you love Sakura but try not to undermine other routes just to make your waifu look better. That wasn't the entire point of Saber's route at all. It's to make her accept her past and make her realize that she's done everything she could for her people because she continues to punish herself by thinking that Britain's downfall was her fault. She didn't expect it to last forever, but she expected a more peaceful slumber. Even her knights especially Lancelot disliked how she continues to punish herself and said that someone needed to save her. Reminder that Shirou was also willing to throw his ideals for Saber but the latter didn't let him to do so. In the end, she learns to accept her past and that her choice may not be the salvation for everyone, but it wasn't a mistake. it is just a melancholic story about the last human dying off after doing an interesting feat
I actually think his perspective while killing the Type is great, but the rest is just him depressed until he eventually dies.
I would say the V/V moments has good slice of life potential, if it happens to be further expanded.
Most short descriptions are kinda foundational and important, but I would say just the names, as most of them are better developed on later works like Kagetsu Touya.
In a sense FGO Cosmos in the Lostbelt after chapter 5.5 returns to it, with 6 having both "original" Longinus and Black Barrel replica being acessible to the player and used tons of times against creatures that are actually pretty similar to what you see in notes.

MTL-patch anon here. The python script to implement MTL to the game is nearly complete and there would be no need to do everything manually, but there are two problems, though.
MTL needs proof reading and sometimes you need to retranslate the lines cause DeepL throws sometimes lines like "I don't know how to say this" as an error or repeats itself in the next sentence even when the sentence is completely different. Checking lines take time and I wonder If any anons want to help by either retranslating or copying speed TL.
Second problem is that the number of lines in MTL document are not equal to the lines from script and by this the lines cannot be copied by script, otherwise there would be random text everywhere or the game could crash.
And I was thinking, is there any site like github but not for IT stuff, where we can edit translation together (without registering) and where someone could accept/reject changes?
If everything goes smooth and we have many volunteers I think we could get a patch this week.

we're better off making another MTL with proper line breaking than editing it ourselves

now here's interesting stuff. i found that deepl can translate up to 2000 lines if you drop a .doc file, but it doesn't let you copy translated text, so you just have to export it into .pdf and copy back into excel table. what you need to do is copy lines from the excel file into word file in a TABLE FORMAT, so deepl doesn't fuck up line breaking. the entire amount of lines is 48k, so it should be relatively easy and fast. the problem is deepl allows only 3 file uploads from a single IP. i've tried 5k lines but it came up with error 'can't be translated', so idk what's the real maximum tho

maybe we should split the script file into blocks with less than 2000 lines and outsource translating those blocks with this method to each other first before getting into editing current script?

I read it for the first time two weeks ago. It's certainly worth it for the experience of seeing what the *actual* story is without corporate regulations dictating content. It also makes getting into Melty Blood (reACT, Cadenza, Actress Again) a much more integrated experience. There is also Kagetsu Tohya to go on. I (personally) don't think it's worth letting the remake "supplant" the original experience. It should be supplementary. I had similar feelings as well, I was kinda hoping Nasu would be compact like he was in Mahoyo, but TsukiR is too long for what it is.

This was a problem with the original VN as well, and I know that some people enjoy that kind of slow burn, but for me I've really come to appreciate tighter paced visual novels. It's not even strictly a matter of length but of the proportion of worthwhile content and length. I enjoyed both the remake routes, but, much like the original VN, it needs an editing pass or something.

Arcueid's manga is still probably my preferred version of her route for that reason. You can read it in 3 hours and get almost everything the remake gives you.

I guess in that sense I'm probably most excited for Sacchin's route since it will be mostly original -- if not entirely original -- like Ciel's new route is.

True that most people will just know shit second hand won't be able to play for a long time. There's a vast difference in actually playing the game yourself and just hearing spoilers out in the wild.

Here's from my personal experiences with Nasu:

>someone told me the basic beats of Tsuki/Melty lore

>learned Fate/Stay Night lore from osmosis of being a Tsukifag

>Seen trinkles of Mahou shit

Maybe I'm jaded and too old. But I've been spoiled on Nasu shit in the past and that did nothing but convince me to dig it. Being spoiled on Tsukihime Remake is having the opposite effect. Don't know how else to put it.

Now in TsukiR defense, I'm sure it will still be a blast to read through. But is a very different feeling then I've had for every other major TM VN

thanks. My opinion is most of the new character designs look terrible and that the new designs also don't fit the old Tsukihime cast. The new weapons Ciel has look stupid and the big dumb Eva Arc at the end also goes too over the top in my opinion.

My biggest gripe with the Remake, as a peasant ESL who's waiting for the speed translation, is that it seems they changed stuff that didn't need to be changed, designs and setting, while they kept stuff that needed to be improved, Arc's ending and the love triangle in Ciel's route.
