So yeah like most of you I upgraded to Windows 7 for Nanami.. but things are running at 80fps, which is troublesome for replays (they won't save) and also troublesome is the fact that nvidia's fixed-aspect ratio button isn't working, so I can't play them on my LCD in 4:3. I have a CRT beside my LCD so it's not that much of a problem, CRTs are the way the games are meant to be played as they were designed for them, but playing something like EoSD on Lunatic in a window is out of the question.

Does anyone know how to fix this? And the fixed-aspect ratio issue for that matter?

That's what you get for switching to an unstable operating system for stupid reasons.

update your driver or get a monitor that fixes the ratio itself

>> No.3629242

Sounds like a driver issue. The games work fine on 7.

For the FPS issue, can V-sync be enabled? And for the incorrect ration, there may be an option on your LCD. It's not automatic, but it may work.

I'd be guessing this is more of a graphics driver issue than Windows 7 per-se.

Funny since I never see people complaining about stuff not working in XP.
Also, how's that paranoia going for you ?
I know the whole internet is out to get you but only people on vista and 7 need to worry about retarded security holes. XP has existed long enough for all of its problems to be fixed.

Fine, noscript and not pirating shit does wonders.

All problems on Microsoft products never get fixed for good, it's just people find exploits and MS decide to fix it or not at their leisure.

It's more of a manpower thing. A lower resolution means less effort spent on graphics.
And it's not Japan-exclusive, most one man/small group developers do it.

>> No.3629451

>>3629437
That's not the problem though. Higher resolution can display the same graphics as the lower resolution. It's just that they are too lazy to make the engine robust.

OP here. Thanks, I'll download some others and see if they give me any issues. I downloaded
191.07_desktop_win7_winvista_32bit_international_whql but now I'm downloading 181.71_geforce_win7_32bit_international_beta.exe to see if that works.

I'm using a geforce 6800 graphics card.

XP will rot eventually. For example, hardware support will disappear. Security vulnerabilities are non-existent, at least to the users. They are specifically made to be invisible!

So what will you do now Ostritch man?

There are two bad things about vista which are it hogs too much resources and running a efficient local network is damned near impossible.
I bet you're one of those people who just heard vista sucks and brain washed by apple commercials but have never even used the damned thing.

>> No.3629505

>>3629451
But that would only result in tiny sprites or a zoomed in screen, which most monitors do anyway. For 3D, it would screw up the textures (again, same effect as a monitor's zoom-in)

>they are too lazy to make the engine robust.
Multiple resolution support is trivial programming-wise.
The whole "guy did an entire game but didn't bother to add a couple menu options" doesn't fly with me.

The ones I installed didn't work, and the ones you suggested didn't work. It just bounces back when trying to select fixed-aspect ratio so I can't currently play doujin/visual novels/eroge in fullscreen 4:3 because it's fullscreen instead.

I must respond to this post. It's so broken.

Firstly, XP mode requires hardware virtualization support. Good luck finding out if your PC supports it. It's not just the CPU that matters! Second, XP mode doesn't have 3D acceleration. So no Touhou for you. Maybe Tsukihime?
