Actually, the "leaking law" of Mercury only crystallizes things as a side-effect. Even if there's nothing to crystallize, it will be there. So fighting ORT in space will still be under Mercury's laws, even if you don't have a visual cue.

For one, it's the only Type to even think in ways recognizable to Earth (barring Type-Venus after it consumes human thoughts).
