Also Bakemonotagari is certainly good when compare to the rest of the mediocre shit in the same season. Just the ED theme is enough to make all the other shows look like shit.
-TM8 sixth sense bullshit (I mean you saw it miles away when his bag is still in the hospital)
-Umineko (dropped after ep1)
-Pissing Princess (generic harem shit)
-S&W2 (decent)

I watched Bakemonogatari and thought it was good because I don't go to /a/.

If it's being extremely hyped/trolled there, I probably wouldn't have given it a shot.

Nah.
Writing is not stellar (at least cannot be seen as such in the anime), it's a monster/trouble per week format that requires monster trouble to express the issues instead of the dialogue, and character dynamics and interactions are not unique(seriously, people never saw a series that forwards itself through dialogue and character interaction before?)
Add production values that are nowhere near outstanding in comparison to most other series, and you just end up with a series that adapts good source material while having no unique or outstanding qualities.
Eden of the East easily had much better impact and presentation, even if it's not as famous, successful or trolled.

I will give you the first few eps but then it just start going downhill. Lets hope the movie change that.
Also like I say earlier, Bakemonogatari is good compare to the rest of the mediocre shit in that season. It isn't top tier or classic materials but it is certainly not shit either like what the trolls want you to believe.

Still, as a show, even Aoi Hana did what it set out to do better.
Though as a story, it would grab much less people.
