What is this?

/jp/ has started on a project to translate the visual novel Hatsukoi, one of the highest rated according to the Japanese.

Are you in need of translators?

Of course! Anyone with knowledge of Japanese (and English) is welcome to join in and start translating with the simple and easy-to-use REtrans™ Web Interface.

Are you in need of editors?

Definitely. You don't even need to know Japanese to help improve the English text, so your participation is encouraged.

What is the length/progress/ETA?

The total length of the content is approximately 32k lines. We are slightly over 15% as of this post. At our current rate of ~100 lines a day, we'll finish sometime in 2015. But the more translators we have, the faster everyone can enjoy the results! If we get to 1000 lines a day, we'll finish before the end of the year.

Lines per day seem to be about the same.
I think he tries to emphasize the need for some extra pace.
I will start working on some editing myself, to at least make the translated work checked and ready to use.

Let me ask something, something that worries me. Because I'm really fucking sick of this happening in every incest thing I play.

She's REALLY your sister right? I'm sick of getting halfway through a route or near the end and it pulls out a load of bullshit saying you aren't related by blood.

>> No.3624164

It's a given translation would be slow during the school year. Just wait till the semester is over, then we'll see real progress. Don't let the project die until then.

>> No.3624229

>>3624151
Browsed through the Anzu script a bit
Not once did it mention they were not blood related, and it was also often stated that they were siblings, so no worries there.

>>3624164
As you said, I'm still busy with school at the moment, so COMMON will have to wait a bit. But once the semesters over I have nothing else to do, so I can start translating full time. I average at about 100 lines an hour. Over the winter break I have about 10 hours free pretty much every weekday. Break lasts 1 month. I'm pretty sure I can get a lot done during that time.

>> No.3624522

>>3624229
100 line/hr * 10 hr/day * 30 days = 30000 lines

We don't even have 30K remaining, so if your estimates are correct we'll finish by then. I'll conservatively double your estimate and say that you'll actually take two months to finish. When will this break period of yours begin?

>> No.3624529

10 hours of free time doesn't mean you'll use every waking minute of it to translate, jesus christ.

Spending three hours a day is pretty much the average person's sanity limit

Is this guy the only translator?

And if I'm reading this correctly, doesn't this mean Hatsukoi has a high chance of being finished in the next 6 months.

He could still do nearly 10000 lines in a month, if he sticks to the pace you described.

My break starts sometime near the end of December.
Usually I chill with my brother during this break, but since he graduated and is working now, I have shit nothing better to do. Friends I usually hang out with over the weekend.

And since I don't have to do any research or work over the winter break, even better.

But shit happens so don't expect TOO much. I'm certain at least half of the game can be done during that time though.

>> No.3626323

Right, that's up to line 200 of Anzu, I'll translate about 50-100 lines a day on my days off being every day but Tues/Thurs to make up the slack from our overburdened translator-kun.

Sigh, I promised I would translate for you from the beginning but then too much Dungeons and Dragons Online.

Hold me to my promise guys, you have permission to hunt me down and beat me senseless.
