SnU follows the basics of Cthulhu mythos.
Sure the moral vacuum as you called is present in the story but it isn't really the whole point of it all.

It tries to portray mankind as insignificant
It tries to blend the beautiful and the disgusting
It tries to somewhat merge what is right with what is wrong in way so that one might even consider everything as right or everything as wrong

These are some common things that most lovecraftian works share.

I didn't say that everything is subjective-- because it's obviously not. But what a person perceives to me "good" or "evil" IS. "Good" and "evil" exist within a person's moral code, which is different in each individual. For instance, Christians believe that abortion is "evil". Atheists do not.

I don't think this was the best exapmple, I know lots of Atheists who don't like abortions at all and I also know of christians who do believe that abortion is a sad thing to do but that it can be necessary under certain situations (basically the same view as the most of the non-christians I know, and myself for that matter).

I just found your example to be kind of bad as it isn't necessarily so.
