There was a one shot single volume reboot sequel series.
This was pretty much the only chance the manga could have bounce back.
That said the author knew he was only making it for the die hard fans.

Maybe adult swim will pick up the show after 20 years.
The show always would fit in well on adult swim.
The anime apprently only covered one third of the manga.

The dvds are becoming harder to find.
Who knows how many anime sites still carry the show.

Also a blast from the past was that since ADV released the anime in the U.S there was a fan who just decided to create a website to the show with some fan art.
That thing is long dead.
Kids & teens early days of programing was pretty funny.
