Does gatekeeping work?

It does.
You can stop asking pointless questions now.

Care to elaborate, newfriend?

Gatekeeping will work a majority of the time where
A. The core group has a means of defense
B. Isn't being actively sabotaged
Failure to gatekeep under the second condition brings forth what you see on the board now.
You have upset them. Their response is natural. Telling them to stop complaining will do absolutely nothing when you consistently ignore the issue and enforce double standards in addition to continual neglect.

I see. So it works, but not on /jp/.
I suppose that answers my question.

Gatekeeping is temporary and it will either fail or implode. Doesn't mean it shouldn't be done, but people need to realize its part of the organic cycle of a community instead of the overglorified thing they hear about on YouTube

>> No.35905597

Given the current state of /jp/, I'd say that all it takes is one specific member of any community in particular to destroy all effort people have built over more than a decade.

>effort people have built over more than a decade
I'm curious to hear more about this effort and what was built
I can't see anything like that here

Consider lurking more and doing your own research in the archives then.

Properly gatekeeping a community works as long as there aren't any people with authority who're actively fighting against it.

<span class="sjis">posting in a troll thread lol[/spoiler]

Either you don't post here or you're just new.
If you've been here for even a month, you'd see the smallest of things that make this board unique.

If you mean spamming imagedump threads, no that's not "effort" nor "building" lmao...

>> No.35905944

>>35905931
You provoked them into doing so. They have to babysit their threads now or else it gets slid off the board by spam. The past six months have done nothing but erode the board.

Good choice to include a vtuber. The thread would be deleted otherwise.
