From my testing, amount is the same. Exp is a tiny tiny tiny bit better. In other words, choose the stage with the mats you want. The lower stages are a lot easier and seem to have enemies that don't buff themselves as often.

Cleared on the last day because I got lazy in the boring 21-29 floors. No heal other than dayly free heal used.
Used a Mokou-Sanae-Reimu stall team for the most part but I had to clear a few problematic ennemies by breaking+nuking them with the rest of the roster.

I never cleared Marisa Roja with 3 stars before, always lost a few units in attrition battle with the fairies. After graduating from the tower I went back to give them a long due lesson in stall.

Around like floor 20 I started employing the Medicine LW into Boosted Barrier breaking strat to kill bosses before gumming the sides into oblivion. Floor 26 was when Marisa Roja really started putting in work since I could MLB her. But all throughout the absolute MVPs by pure usage were Sanae and Suika.

MVPs are Yukari, Sanae, Reimu, and Red Marisa. The former three for their incredibly versatile stall setup and the latter for her elemental shots and godtier SC and LW damage.

I beat Floor 25 and stopped. My team is rather weak without many resources invested into Awakening or upgrading spell cards or skills, so each floor took a while to strategize to beat, and unlike events or farming where I could just do it on work breaks, I didn't have the kind of time to invest in all 30 floors of it this go around.

I could have continued, but I saw no need to force myself to finish the content when the tower is going to come back and I'll get to keep all my progress anyway.

Reimu, Sanae and a flex pick (usually Patchy) did most of the work for me, as a F2P no-lifer who beat 30 floors with about 5 paid refreshes. It was a standard tank-n-spank stall that took like 30 minutes per floor.

Reimu has focus up and big defences, and I was able to activate her "when you boost, +1 yin def" every turn with +1 boosted spreads. With Sanae's extra barrier support, Reimu was also able to graze nearly every spell card.
Sanae has very good healing and barrier recovery, to heal up Reimu's constant chip damage and also provide barriers against all-target spellcards.
Patchouli has easy access to Metal and Wood-All damage via +1 boosts, and burns for extra chip damage when elements were unfavourable. She also happens to be rather tanky against elemental damage due to resisting all 5.

Often, I'd switch out Patchouli for someone else, usually after I kill the barrier-restoring enemy. Suika has Fire coverage. Reisen has Moon
Partway through the tower, I got a Tewi and powerlevelled her with school and bringing her along to autoclicker farm Lunatic Yukari, and she provided extra status-based DoT damage after some quick Dojo training.

When I had Tewi, I noticed a couple of Moon damage enemies, and I'd swap out Sanae and Reimu for Reisen and Marisa against a statused-up enemy to have Reisen break barriers and Marisa nuke the broken enemy with Star damage as need be.

On a macro level, I also sold off some extra 3star story cards to get a couple extra awakenings off to juice Reimu and Sanae's stats a bit. I, unfortunately, don't have Yukari, Medicine or Yuyuko, so I had to make do

Also with the amount of Special stages now, and how newer ones have been less braindead, I'm thinking I'll stop treating them as dailies and only grind until I get 1000 character thingies or whatever it was.

The future/mech/alt reality stuff is kinda interesting though I kinda detect maybe parody or reverence for typical gacha girl designs. Also I still am pissy that they have given Marisa a tomboyish outfit despite her being girlier than Reimu.

Snake is shaping up to be the best defender unit. The only qualms I have are regarding her LW's barrier status heal and her Ability.
The heal should scale with Awakenings up to 2(+1 60%). As a defender she is expected to expend shields but her kit is more geared towards defensive tanking with recovery secondary and shields tertiary to that. Lorewise she subdued the native curse goddess, and as such I feel that if her heal is related to her LW it should be more dramatic, as if she is turning everything around in one go. Obviously there should be room for some form of status effect, but it should come as an extremely low chance that can be removed by expending a shield. Less to allow the status to truly effect her, and more to demonstrate how strong another character's status attacks are by even having one last through her LW in the first place. Secondly her ability is lackluster for a Goddess.
20% resisted elements would be decent on a normal character, it is underwhelming for a Fes friend, a Goddess, and a Def character. Yukari possess 30% to resisted, Focus Up, and a party wide Def buff. Byakuren has 20% dmg up to effective elements, a partywide Def buff, and an agility buff. Reimu, while understandably powerful in canon, is a regular friend that possess 20% dmg down from effective elements, and partywide Ying and Yang def buffs. Continuing from her theme as the one who subdued the curse goddess she possess null on at least one type of barrier status, and preferable multiple. While it would ignore the effects of the status, it would still leave the option open to breaking them unless she expends or heals. Regarding her resistance I find it mind boggling that it does not overlap with at least Suwako's LW. Resistance to earth makes sense when understood within the framework of the concept of Kegare, as the idea of impurity related to the earth. While Star resistance could be rationalized under a vague idea of heavenly purity, the Japanese conception of such is more related to the moon and sun. A better correlation for Kegare would be Wood as within the framework of the Japanese interpretation of the Wuxing, Gyogo, it is associated with growth and life. In abstract Kegare is based upon sickness and corruption stemming from the fecundity of life itself, both the elements earth (associated with fruiting) and wood (growth) would more clearly emphasis the idea of a pure Yamato goddess who triumphed and absorbed the unclean native goddess.

I stalled both of those fights and they never used them over the course of a great number of turns. Ennemy Mokou used her LW but never regained HP with it. Makes me think that no ennemy was able to regain HP in the 30 first floors.

Like hell it is. Stalling works consistently, but there are lots of ways to beat floors without stalling. The key is to learn how buffs stack and having plenty of LWs. You get a lot more mileage out of a LW if you use all your spellcards first with story cards that buff your yin/yang (or your accuracy/crit accuracy if you have skill buffs like Marisa or Ran).

You wait for the free heal, obviously. Not including the 30th floor paper doll and this week's, I think we've gotten 18 paper dolls so far. That's enough to MLB four units, with change. Assuming you use one LW per floor, that's only ~7 days needed to clear it, and we had two weeks or so. Plus, any sort of dupes gotten give potentially more LWs.

Most consistent? Sure, I used some stalling to complete the tower. Only way? Not at all. Getting full breaks and using LWs got me just as much progress as stalling did, and I only had two LWs. Of course, beating enemies without easy weaknesses like the one null barrier fairy is a lot easier with stalling.
It really comes down to the units you have available. Long bouts of multi-enemy stalling aren't feasible for me, since I don't have Yukari or Mokou. But someone without Medicine might find certain enemies too difficult to fight without stalling. There's no one size fits all strategy for the tower, both because of the inherent luck-based nature of gacha and how stingy global has been with free units.
