Whether it be official or some silly looking bootleg or just an unofficial project, post em
(no fumo please, you have a thread for that)

The ZUN styled garage kit figurines gotta be up there as one of my favorites, there may be only a few of them but I'm honestly surprised Seihou Yuuka was even considered for this.

The bkub-style garage kits would be one of the few figures that I would buy on the spot if I saw it.
They go up for sale rarely on places like Mandarake and Suruga-ya.

It's quite sad that there aren't many new figures or merch for the newer games, although I did stumble upon this one lovely Keiki kit.
I'd say Touhou itself isn't reclining since it seems to be quite popular these days and the newer games play just fine in my opinion, but the business for merchandise has definitely slowed down. I'd kill for a Sannyo figure or really any newhu though.

>> No.35831691

>>35831066

It's more garage kits than 2hu in particular. The whole reason Japanese garage came about was hobbyists looking to create their own models in a way which that was simple and efficient enough to be done in a space like a garage. I assume the unfinished state was probably more due to the transport logistics and fragility of the finished product, and acquired preference among fig collectors afterwards.

In response to the popularity of GK, professional fig makers started making similar, often with precolored resin, that appeals more to the stylistic preference than necessity, and are now most of what you see when looking for new garage kits. Since most popular series have licensing with these companies, there is less motivation to produce them in the traditional way and sell them piecemeal, though they're still around. 3D printing has also eaten away at the traditional process for individuals, and it is increasingly viable to 3D print a whole figure.

With 2hu figs the decline in release by professional makers is probably a combination of a relative decrease in demand for newer characters, an preexisting abundance of figures for the older characters, and the lack of attractive exclusivity/licensing deals these companies probably get with anime/manga license owners.

I don't know if it counts, but many years ago there was an anon here that was showing off some of his custom wool yukkuri in a yukkuri thread. I actually winded up contacting him, and he made a Komachi for me. I really love it, it's by far my favorite thing I own.

If the anon that made her is still around after all this time I still take good care of her. Looking at my yukkuri Komachi's silly sleeping face is one of the few things that still brings me joy.

Random thought: are /fumo/ threads in recline? I hardly see them on the front page anymore, they don't use the standardized /fumo/ title anymore, and they seem filled with Twitter grifters. That discussion is probably better suited for the thread itself >>35726130 although what I've observed is that only a few threads as of late have deviated from the typical OP format along with a few complaining about Twitter, etc, and it can be quite frustrating at times. I'd say a good amount of those threads are actually okay though if you can ignore the bumps in the road.
I think the best solution is to just take it easy and ignore the bait, and in the process others will hopefully be encouraged to take it easy as well. I'm sure with time the whole negativity will die out and people will go back to posting nice things.

On another note, I think Angeltype has a very cute art style and it's very suited for cute merchandise.

You can try Mercari by searching each Touhou game's titles in Japanese (the wiki can help with that). Although they're secondhand, it is a genuine way to buy physical copies - and cheap at that. Most of them go for around 5-10 USD (typically not over ¥1000), but you're going to need to tough out the shipping expenses. Sometimes sellers aren't able to ship outside of Japan, so a proxy may be necessary.
