Someone brought it up in the previous thread so decided to pick up again Ayakashi, this time with the idea of finishing it instead of leaving it in the backlog for years. And to read Ayakashi H later of course.

Finished Kajiwara and Orie routes and currently doing Pam. Previously did Hime's. A scene I really liked was when Hori forces you to have sex with the TV girl, felt a bit bad for Eimu but honestly you had no say in the matter, the sex still felt good of course.

That was something in ichijou’s route that confused the shit out of me as well. Your reading of Muramasa is extremely cynical, I don't think it was going that far with it's statement. I think the game was just about avoiding the trappings of thinking that you are completely justified in your beliefs or purpose that you are using for murder, as the tagline for the game's true route says:

これは英雄の物語ではない。
誰もが英雄ではいられない。
それでも誰もが戦っている。

Even if nobody can be a hero, we still gotta fight for what we believe in, right? I remember there was a conversation that Muramasa had with the blind kid from chapter 1 in the route which also lined up with that theme. No man not in power has ever thought a revolution actively improved his life, at least in the short-term. Look at the revolutions in the 18th and the 19th century and the decades of turmoil they brought with them.
And that's not entirely right, some revolutions are purely ideological in nature. There's a huge difference between economical struggles and brothers killing one another merely for ideals (or safety under the fire said revolutions brought) like they did in the Spanish civil war, for example.

If you don't understand what the "blue bird" imagery is supposed to mean under that context and believe it to somehow be a total rewrite completely differing in content or even tone then what else am I supposed to assume? It's a cheesy line, but one that could work depending on what the character is like. But I'll listen to other anons and just stop since this isn't even the thread for it and I really should stop procrastinating on my job (or just reading something instead).

>It's definitely better than the old handhelds where kanji can just be a jumbled mess sometimes.
Yes, this is something I couldn't understand with people who played VNs on, say, PSP or PS Vita consoles. At least on old PS1/PS2 VNs, you're going to have TV real estate to be able to read text. I guess it's fine for simple games directed to young audiences, where you're unlikely to have a lot of complex kanji to squeeze into a small space anyway.
>If you want portability inside your house you could probably just use some sort of screen share with a regular tablet/phone.
Text size and battery management become a chore at that point, and since I may want to reference text/multitask, it's just not practical. It's not like I'm trying to play ero VNs in public, but rather, trying to have a comfortable space where I don't need a big PC running and heating up my room just for a visual novel, text hooker, and dictionary. Ideally, I would just be reading VNs on a tablet PC with nothing else but occasionally a dictionary on my phone (slower than a texthooker) when I feel comfortable with that. I think that may be the ideal way to consume VNs in our modern age, frankly.
>>35866249
Yeah, maybe the Vita is the cut-off for comfortable text size since it has decent res and screen real estate for a portable. I have one, but I haven't played any VNs on it. I can't personally imagine going any smaller than that though, even for native-language texts. With that in mind, on the topic of tablet PCs, how do you personally feel about that as a main platform for consuming VNs compared to standard desktop/laptop PCs? Most VNs default to a low res window anyway, so I doubt screen size really matters all that much. Low system requirements 99.99% of the time as well. I wonder why it doesn't seem that popular in the VN enthusiast crowd. I will probably get one eventually and try it out myself.

It is okay. I don't own an x86 tablet, but I have played plenty of VNs on ARM tablets and my chinky Orange Pi using Moonlight (requires a NVIDIA GPU, but Steam Remote Play/Parsec or even AnyDesk will work fine) to play remotely. I use this generic chink controller to handle input, I think it came with my Google Chinkboard? Checking the dictionary is a bit of a pain though.

How do you all personally settle between your route choices in a VN? I'm not sure of any potential common signs for knowing when something might lock you in or out of a specific route, as I'm still fairly new to the genre. So many respectable options to pick between, it's kind of troublesome to manage my choices. I'm currently at a scene where I can choose to hug someone or ask to hold their hand instead. I peeked a bit through both sequences, and the dialogue seems to be similar in some aspects, but tonally quite different.
>Pic related, the scene.
It's reasonable to say that the first choice will lead to a more intimate scene chain, but it will surely progress further from there. Who knows whether a single one of those choices may lock me into a route early on or not?

It seems you might be right. I peeked further into the more platonic hand-holding flow, and while it was certainly more tame, seems to lead up to the same second set of choices as the other option anyway. I will probably pick the hug route, but the simple hand-warming scene was really cute and heart-warming. It makes me want to play a VN where I can be a protective father or something.
>>35870230
I just want to do my best so I have an ideal experience here and going forward in other games. I am admittedly quite an indecisive person. You're likely correct that I'm putting too much thought into it considering the contents. Perhaps I'm just over-invested, and in a lolige of all things.

Completed Ayakashi with 100% CG/Scene, what a great VN. Route ranking:

Eimu > Hime > Pam > Orie

Orie route was the less climactic but the romance was cute. Eimu was the most hype as expected of the true heroine but a minor complaint she was the only heroine without blowjob scenes because she pretty much got penetrated non-stop in her two scenes back to back. Hopefully Ayakashi H will deliver in that aspect.

To the Just Reading Chads here, at what point do you think you grasped reasonable comfort in reading most texts of your personal interest? Rather, how would you describe your progression over time learning in such a way? Linguistic acquisition has been going well for me, and I am not feeling any impatience as I'm enjoying the content I'm consuming. However, I'm curious what the shifts of experiences have been like for others doing the same sort of thing as me.

Personally, my vocabulary acquisition has been rather swell, with my grammatical understanding lagging behind at first, but picking up now. I'm finding non-particle grammatical structures to be pausing me in my reading sessions more than anything now. Despite their simplicity in every way, they tend to be some of the more difficult things for me to work with for whatever reason. Almost tempted to seek out some pre-made, mildly autistic Anki deck to jam out this small stuff, but I probably won't.To the Just Reading Chads here, at what point do you think you grasped reasonable comfort in reading most texts of your personal interest?
