Sincerely dont think they get to pick the names. They choose their model from an album of chuubas, they get to choose some addons in their model (gura getting the hinako shark hoodie) or some lines to the backstory but names of all things are probably set in stone.
Animating a model is a pain in the ass if your rigger and artist have other jobs and names are most likely chosen by their marketing department.
