Some people are turning against fumos because normalfags and underageb&s pretend to be interested in them so that they can consider themselves members of a community They do this purely for the social aspect of it, and not because they find plushies and Touhou particularly interesting. The older posters started to leave as soon as the rampant shitposting began, or they just quit because people do that naturally after a while. I remember some anon running a mock survey in /fumo/ months ago, and the results indicated that most posters "joined" the thread only recently. It's no miracle that the thread quality went down steadily with the demographics change, since the shitposting doesn't really make the thread a good place for sharing actual attempts at photography or just doing what people did in the older /fumo/ threads. If you're not a lazy piece of shit and don't know what I mean, go look at pre-2020 fumo threads.
