I'm one of the guys who would start regular sacchin threads way back before the split. Unfortunately I had several severe HDD failures and lost all of my painstakingly collected images (there was stuff that sure as hell doesn't appear on the *boorus).

I stopped posting Satsuki threads around the time the remake was announced, since I figured there wasn't much point discussing her until we saw what happens in her route.

However, it's been like 9 months since the remake was announced with little to no further news. So I guess I'm gonna lift my soft ban on Sacchin threads until the remake is almost done (if that day ever comes...)

I just started replaying Saya no Uta, and I have just realized that there are a few parallels between Fuminori and Satsuki. Both of them were perfectly normal, admittedly flawed individuals, who for no reason of their own found themself suddenly thrust into a world in which everything around them was normal, yet appeared to have taken a terrible change- Fuminori's sensory disorder, Satsuki's vampirism. Both of them found that the only food that could satisfy them was of their own species.

Yet, their circumstances and the way they dealt with their sudden disconnection with humanity differs- Fuminori had several friends who were deeply concerned about his condition, but were ultimately rejected (and in one case eaten) by him, along with the rest of humanity. Fuminori abandoned human values and society for his love of an inhuman monster.

Satsuki, on the other hand didn't seem to have any particularly close friends. When she disappeared, noone other than Shiki expressed any concern at all. And despite that, she still clung to her humanity even though she had to kill humans to survive, because she loved a human. Humanity, or at least the one human who mattered to her -Shiki- instead rejected her.

Satsuki is the best female Tsukihime character.

She got her life saved by Shiki, and what does she do? Does she cling to him like some sort of desperate, pathetic slut?

Hell no.

She just admires the virtues of the man who rescued her from afar, content with merely observing him. This carries on for years, as she slowly develops a true, pure love that refuses to fade with the passage of time. Just watching Shiki was enough for her, but then one day she actually gets to walk home with him.

The amount of happiness this brought her was impossible for her to hide, and she finally got to interact one-on-one with the man she had come to love. Things were progressing even better than she had ever dreamed; it was almost looking like she could show Shiki the pure, innocent love she had for him and maybe even be accepted!

But then, she got bitten and turned into a vampire. Naturally, when that is the case, it is well-nigh impossible to resist the inevitable bloodlust. Satsuki even has to cave in to it. But when Shiki was put in danger by it, she actually manages to control the insatiable desire, and hold on to her sanity for the very end. All so she could protect the one who protected her so long ago; all so she could tell him the feelings she had kept to herself for so long.

And what was her reward?

The man she loves ceases her existence.

Isn't it sad, Sacchin? ;_;
