If Princess Waltz had routes, I think that the path the game takes would have to be Chris's Bad End.

The others would obviously be "You trap it up and let Chris be the man" End and "Bros-with-benefits" End; I'll let you decide which is the Good End and which is the True End.

People hate Chris for much the reason they hate Sakura. Most people on /jp/ are hermits who have no idea how to realize complex emotions or any clue how to interpret the actions of a tragic character. They want the next moeblob that comes along or they fall in love with the tsundere, stuck in some silly fantasy where they dream that the hot girl who treated them like shit in middle school actually liked them and didn't think they were a disgusting piece of trash.

Honestly, Chris's problems stems from the way she was raised and the pressures she was put under, unable to live her life like any normal person. Its clear she has feelings for Arata, and she needs time to sort them out when she's been forced to live as a guy for her lifetime. Its not going to happen in a visual novel that takes place over the course of a week. Chris deserves a good end. I mean, who else are you going to chose? Liesel, miss stereotypical generic Ms. Average? The boxing leprechaun? The crazy bitch who'd just as soon kill you as fuck you? Lun Lun, who's probably in her mid 20s and will look like an ugly old hag by the time you're 30?

No, Arata made the smart choice. Deal with it.

Tragic past, well-though out character, complex etc does not necessarily make the character APPEALING in the end.
Regardless of how one ended up, you care about the result.
There is a difference between a non likable character because of the traits and a badly written one you cannot like.
