Beat the first route and man this game is awesome. I can’t imagine that the new Melty will have such a robust story mode as this game, but if it gets close then I’m excited. I’m just surprised by how much world building is in this game. It’s even more important lore wise then Kagetsu Tohya in the grand scheme of things. I also like Sion way more than I thought I would. Great game.

Tsukihime is truly a story about optimism, valuing yourself, appreciating your life, and moving boldly into the future. Death might not be as close to our doors as it is to Shiki’s… but, then again, you never know. That is why the lessons in this story are so applicable. You are alive now, but maybe not tomorrow. So look on your past fondly, smile at yourself in the mirror now and again, and hope lovingly for the future. Shiki is someone who has about a decade or two of life left, and he messes around with two immortal beings in the main routes.

In the epilogue, Shiki fatefully meets Aoko again and they muse a little bit about old times past. Shiki notes how the past several days/weeks (the span of X route) have been crazy. And some point Aoko tells him that those days will eventually end. Shiki agrees and asks something to the effect of when. The Magus just kind of remains silent and freaking Shiki just tells her that the days were fun, though.

And this is what, for me, Tsukihime was about. Yes, there were vampires and serial killers. But it was really about finding joys in today – even when it doesn’t seem like there are any… and about having faith in a tomorrow. Basically, Tohno Shiki could die ten years from that conversation with Aoko, or he might not even wake up the next day. Although we don’t “live close to death”, the same basic concept applies. There are no promises in life. So you can go through life miserable only to be potentially snuffed out tomorrow, or you can find your own happiness and hope it extends into your future.

For context, Miyazawa Iori, the author of Urasekai Picnic, just posted this on twitter saying they remember buying it at Comitia because it looked cool. They just found out that only 10 copies were printed, and only 6 of them sold. It's the first physical thing TM (then Takebouki) ever made, and includes the first 3 KnK stories.
I'm still wrapping my head around how crazy it is that Miyazawa of all people was one of the 6 buyers, and that they still had it in such good condition. I've never ever seen it before.

So I've been looking into ways of extracting data from VNs in preparation for Tsuki remake. And it turns out that all of the VNs that I could find which were originally written in some version of KiriKiri and then ported to Switch actually changed to different engines despite there supposedly existing KiriKiriZ for Switch. Post popular being Unity which is great since you don't have to deal with a myriad of bullshit encryption methods prevalent in traditional VN engines to get to the assets, everything is easily accessable. Around half are still using specialized VN engines with encryption which means that I can't get to the assets since I don't know what the fuck am I doing.

Probably will change lore from the old game that will upset people. May not include the ‘this chair’ moment since it isn’t as big of a meme in Japan. Shiki’s charcter will be more like Ritsuka’s since he hasn’t written for a protagonist that is actually a charcter for a long time. If you want to do it the correct, chronological, order:

Watch the Deen F/SN anime. It's not that good, but it has some things that are referenced later.
Watch the UBW anime. The first movie skips the stuff that are common between the routes, so you'll be confused about some of the things that happened. And it's the only way to find out a lot of very important character motivations too.
Watch the first two Heaven's Feel movies.
Watch Kara no Kyoukai. It's not really related, but it's good.
Watch Fate/Zero. It's the prequel.

If you don't have enough time for all of them, this is the order of importance:
Heaven's Feel 1 and 2 are absolutely necessary.
UBW will help you understand a lot of important context.
Deen F/SN will help you appreciate certain scenes more.
Kara no Kyoukai is set in the same world and explains some important concepts that the Heaven's Feel movies don't do a great job of explaining.
Fate/Zero is great, but if all you care about is preparing for Heaven's Feel, you can safely leave it for later. It explains nothing that you won't see in the movies.

Angra's my favourite character, though I quite liked seeing Rider getting more screentime. I think my favourite scene might've been the bonfire with Kirei, though my favourite action scene was the bridge fight. I really liked the SOL scenes with Lancer and Archer shenanigans in them.

F/HA’s ending is spectacular in many ways. The more obvious reasons why are due to Angra’s dedication to ending Bazett’s misery of staying in a world that doesn’t move forward. Even while breaking apart and turning into the original form of his shadow he still strides forward in order to save someone. He starts off as a hollow shadow that is in Shirou’s body that doesn’t have much influence but as the days that he wished for keep continuing he finally starts to become someone. As he meets the wonderful people of Fuyuki he starts to love them like he loved the humanity he had witnessed atop the mountain’s peak as he found the beauty that humanity made through the many years he started rooted above them. This time he’s able to see the beauty humanity has by living im those sunny days with the cast of Fate and is finally able to experience the happiness that was rightfully is. He also experienced the repair and death that humanity has as he’s killed at night by the shadows and even Caren. Still, he continues to change from a hollow person to his own individual self as the days keep changing and his first breakthrough is meeting Caren in the church. His shell that he wears outside starts to break as he sees this beautiful girl perform in the church all by herself. She performs for no one and doesn’t expect praise for sacrificing her time in order to please others. After talking with her and learning of her past he hates the way that she acts as she dies everyday performing her work as her body is torn apart by demons. She reminds him of a Hydrangea flower which is a flower that can grow and live even after being battered by rain and still looks beautiful despite the hardships. Their bond deepens and eventually they part while walking towards the moon which resembles the mountain top that he used to view people with back in his past. He parts with the one he loves as he finally becomes his own person and still keeps moving forward as he breaks apart. He lies to himself as he wants to keep living in his dream world with the humans he has grown to love, but he can’t stay in this stagnant world that doesn’t allow progress. The other meta commentary is Bazett wanting to stay in the world of Fate and it being a fan disk wanting to keep exploring new fun events for Angra. Nasu tells the player that those days are over and it’s time to move on from the town of Fuyuki in order to explore new things that the world has to offer. Angra’s words of encouragement towards Baz are true as he speaks to someone who has been betrayed by the world and feels nothing but loathing for the world. Go out and see the rest of the world and try to find your own happiness. Go explore and hold your head high as you’ve survived for this long in your own misery. The world is still moving and maybe you can find salvation in it as the world of HA is not one of salvation for her. As Angra competes the last piece and they say their goodbyes even Angra is given some hope as he goes to the afterlife with his own bright light waiting for him. He finally became someone after being in the void for so long. His memeories of all the people that he loves flashes through his mind as he bids farewell to his dream for one last time.
