Fucking finally completed Saihate no motherfucking ima after a lot of procrastination and Holy fucking cock it was pretty underwhelming. Someone here told me the story is actually very complex and I disagree with them now. There's barely any plot here except for the vast sweep of world building infodumps in final chapter. I thought the actual story was pretty straightforward with very familiar sci-fi tropes. that crazy ending was unique but kinda stupid . It's just that the "routes" really had nothing going for them. Sure, Each route had its own conflict and plot thread, but they are constantly shoved to the background by SoL scenes and philosophy ramblings, and It feels like they weren't neatly concluded except for youko's route. As if that's not enough, the writer fucked up the remaining plot-relevant scenes into vague out-of-context bullshit. This kind of writing really fails to intrigue you into learning more. Youko's route was surprisingly straightforward and sayaka's route was the hardest to wrap your head around. They basically give a short summary of what's going on in routes in an epilogue scene and I was like how the fuck can you guess that shit from what's shown in sayaka's route. I feel they could added a few more plot relevant scenes in flesh out route specific conflicts.

I don't know if that's the case but in some games the big chunk of the plot happens during the common route, and once it branches into each heroine it's more like a bonus. Even more tiresome when it wraps the whole mystery with an infodump at the ending.

Question about Muramasa (I have not read it yet). I was looking at the CGs, and I noticed that for the scene where pic related gets raped, the trial version of the game used a different CG set in which her arms and legs are removed before being raped, whereas in the normal game they still seem to be intact. Frankly I thought the trial version set was much better so this was disappointing. So I was wondering if she still has her arms and legs removed in the full release. I noticed she's tagged with amputation on VNDB, so it made me wonder.

The industry is trying so hard, with their next generic nukige and moege, while making sure to not risk anything and following the bazillion "rules" it set up for itself over the last decade, in the hopes to not sell less and less, all the while prices went up gating out potentially new people more than ever.

I mean. You can count those who still kinda try with one hand. And the longer it continues, the less likely it's going to be fixable. Even if someone somehow creates a really good work, it's likely to go under, especially with people nowadays being way more critical than they were 20 ish years ago. Something like the original Utawarerumono wouldn't fly anymore.

It's pretty simple really. Story and writing is a complex thing, that can fail or succeed, it's not reliable, so for many of the companies not a cool thing. Something like porn you can increase and the result can be calculated. It's a stable and easy thing to do.

The industry stagnates because it forgot how important it is, that the rest convinces. That's why people go to gacha. The rest may not convince there either, but you don't have to pay 10k yen upfront, and it's a more.. social activity I suppose. Especially if you go to bigger ones, you got yourself a lot of fanmade art, stories and so on as well.
Seeing how for example Frontwing handled Island's release, I'm also sure that the companies themselves have some serious issues with marketing, and handling a game's release.

Well, that was quick. It felt like the route's over before it even started.
Before I start talking about Asuka & Takashi, just wanna say that sex jokes retardation decreased over time. Hayato's perspective was a massive improvement with unique setting and vibes. I just loved the feel of hayato going about his life and just randomly meeting side characters like paru, platinum, ai who all have their own lives and you get to see the glimpses of it by talking to them something other than shimoneta(that black dude and that retarded loli were fucking annoying tho). With that said, I hated kakeru's gang bullshit. They were annoying as fuck. Too many 不愉快 characters and everytime that fat fuck, hippie junkie, gyaru twink appear in front of hayato I know they are going do the same comedy routine shtick and it makes me want to alt+f4 the fuck out of it.
Asuka's route, if you can even call it that, felt quite underwhelming. So Asuka gives him a piece of advice and agrees to help him get over his mental illness, and then they hook up and the route ends. I'm just not sure what to even feel about this. I don't think I can even say I liked their romance because I felt none here. You can say it's realistic but so what? I don't read fiction for bland realism. It's not bad but I won't call it good or kamige material either.

As a Setsunachad, a route where she shows at least a small glimmer of selfrespect would also help (although her not having any is one of her Moepoints). Youko scenario would be my pick for the hospital sex of course. I can definitely see why it shouldn’t be included in the main game, but it would have been a decent addition as a non-canon fandisc or bonus scenario. At least it would be better than those 10 IC LN’s we got that nobody read.

I liked them as both individual routes and as a way to increase the depth of the main love triangle, which for me puts them above a lot of other side heroine routes of other games that completely ignore the main heroine(s). You could argue that they are a bit too long, but if they where short they would just feel tacked on and it would lead to the same problem that plagued Parfait.
I do agree that they are the 'weakest' part of the game (especially Sugiura's route), but that’s not saying much since I pretty much adore the entirety of WA2. Also there are a lot of complaints you could make about Chiaki's route, but boring isn't one of them.

It's bundled with some random Steam emu. Here I got the newest Goldberg Steam Emu, which is open source so I consider it inherently more trustworthy. I've set it up with force_language to japanese, offline and disable_networking.

The game's files also include DLCs, which are unlockable simply by adding them to the list of DLCs you want to unlock. I've pre-set for all the DLCs (in DLC.txt).

So I just finished Wagahime. It was pretty decent, better than what I've been lead to believe by the posts in these threads, I'd give it an 8. Some parts dragged on too long (both fight scenes and exposition, holy shit who even fucking cares how books are made in this fantasy world), and as is the case with MinatoSoft the common route was better than the heroine routes, but they seemed to have caught unto this and made 3 common routes to compensate.

Popularity poll results are a mixed bag for me. I expected #1 and #2 to be there, but not エリン, I don't know what the elevens see in her. Also definitely didn't expect ラスト to be more popular than ノア. And I'm surprised to see a non-virgin character ranking so high on 7.

Also, I should mention that Takahiro did a review of the popularity poll results and said that he was shocked to see Last that high, but that he did expect her to be in top 10. I'm personally shocked that her and Mimi didn't at least get shitty 1 hour long h-scene-fest routes in as substories in Crone's route.
