As farmer: these are things I picked up on my own playing for a few days so they may be totally wrong, but here goes
- Things you will want to pick up early on and save for later use: bones, kitins, muddy/mineral water, tonic/soda, vegetables, meat, ice candy, stuff like that (note: this is practically almost everything edible) meat can be used to make smoked meat when you get item refining level 2
- tree knowledge I'd pick as the first passive because you increase fruit tree drop rate dramatically, as well as add a new drop table. fruits+organic fruits are easy to get and can be taken to grocery grandma to make into dried fruit for free. Early on this is what you will be eating before endless amounts of smoked meat. I still use dried organic fruit as a panic hp button (like when getting chased, lag etc) because the healing is instant

- I suggest not getting any of the hp/sp skills early: For me ideal skill point progression setup would be (save skill points earlier until merciless blow arrives), max out merciless blow, max out axe mastery (assuming you are going axe, there's maces as well but there's more synergy with axe stuff i think), tree knowledge, item refining (up to 2 at least), plant knowledge, and then the rest according to personal preference. Cooking sounds cool but can wait because at most you have piddling amounts of ingredients ever. Seriously. I have worked hard at gathering shit to cook, and so far I have smoked 5x more meats than cooking shit at least.

If you get a decent amount of str early on you can 1 shot kill most things with merciless blow, which makes leveling a little easier.

The quests you get at your job change dude, the merchant master, are the best.

I couldn't say what to get for marionette because I haven't tried the others. I got Insmouse the fishman myself, it's fine but not awesome. I suspect the robot may be a better fit.

You can buy breadfruit nut and veggies for sandwiches at the grocery lady if you're out of them, and that is why I prefer sandwiches. 45g for 250HP. 75g if you count money made selling the meat.

The problem with this is most beginners may be still tight on money, level 11 axe costs 5k+ and level 21 is 12k-ish, +other equipment upgrades. 750g for 10 heals is quite a bit at the early levels, not to mention it takes up a load of skill slots. I have 254 hp at level 25, and what I want is a 'not die' healing item instead of a full heal.

I have almost 400 HP and 100k jewgolds, so I guess I don't have the same problem anymore. We didn't smoke the meat at all even early though, we just used dried fruit from the occasional farming trips to Tiny Island and saved all the meat for sandwiches later.

I always grind now (Shaman 22/20) with a fighter type with me, a vates, wizard/warlock/vates/shaman, seriously tank just runs around to draw mass aggro, and casters machine gun mobs.
