When does this stuff happen? I know some things that eventually happen in F/SN - the things that made me want to play it/read it to begin with. I tried playing it and after what felt like hours, I was bored out of my fucking mind. It was just that faggot doing the kind of monologues a 13 year old MIGHT think were deep and going to and from school over and over again.

When does the "meat" of the plot start to kick in?

I'd find it a lot more playable if it was on the DS. I know there's some half-baked version you can put on the DS but it sounds as if it's riddled with bugs - I don't know if it even works since they people that did it don't mention it in their download list despite the files being stored elsewhere on the site.

When activated, the magic is such that it violates causality to reach the conclusion of the weapon hitting, with reality then retroactively justifying the action. This is related to fate and can be countered by divine levels of luck.

It's got 2 different attacks. It never misses the heart when used normally unless your luck stat is high enough to avoid the curse. When it's thrown it has a totally different property. It sacrifices always hitting the heart but instead does something a bit like Assassin's Tsubame-Gaeshi, in that it scatters numerous spearheads at the same time to strike the enemy. People need to read the info screens more often.

Well, Fate isn't really deep. There are good moments here and there, all of them mostly towards the end. The rest is Shiro's life chillin' (during the fucking grail war mind you) and lots of battles. Yes, it's incredibly battle-oriented for a visual novel - judging from your post this probably is not your thing.

>When does the "meat" of the plot start to kick in?

If I know what you mean? Always before the final battle.

I've looked at the scripts used in the Tsukihime DS port and at some of the programming documentation. I'm not certain that the graphical effects of FSN, as simple as they are, are possible at the level of VNDS' current version.

>it's incredibly battle-oriented for a visual novel - judging from your post this probably is not your thing.

Not at all. It seemed to take forever to get to the bit when Lancer attacks Shirou in the school. I knew that happened anyway because of the anime so it didn't really surprise or entertain me. I played on from there (I was already pretty bored by the point) but ran out of steam and gave up a while afterwards. Nothing interesting had happened other than Lancer chasing Shirou for a bit (sure he died but even if I didn't know what happened, I'd have expected him to be resurrected or not actually be dead).

Just to add to this: I'm not some ADHD kid either. I can sit and read all sorts of books for hours, whether they be more action oriented or very mundane like The Outsider by Camus. I completed the 4th Ace Attorney game in about two sittings as well... But, despite how interesting people talking about it can make it sound, I've always found F/SN really boring and hard to read.

>> No.349714

>>349688
All the routes start as boring (Heaven's Feel is faster in this regard, though). Shirou's ideals sound childish at the beginning but, as the story progresses his ideals are explained properly, you get to understand why he developed them, and at the same time, he reaches some conclusion.

Basically, as the creators said, the theme of the game is "conquering oneself".

Wrong

Fate (at the beginning) - I want to save as many people as I can. (By the end) - A hero is only a cleaner.
UBW (at the beginning) - I want to save as many people as I can. (By the end) - Even if at the end I cannot achieve anything, I still want to follow this path.
HF (at the beginning) - I want to save as many people as I can. (After acknowledging Sakura's situation) I cannot sacrifice her, even if she is guilty.

>> No.349831

>>349768
I'm curious, they constantly mentioned how his father said that a superhero had to choose who they were going to save; its impossible to save everyone.

Does he just follow that advice for HF?

>> No.349914

>>349831
He ends up acknowledging that much by the end of each route.

In HF, he cannot bring himself to kill Sakura, and drops his ideal to become a hero of justice.
