Well he wasn't doing anything with it. It hung on his wall over the fireplace for 40 years. When he moved into an assisted living place they wouldn't let him have any weapons so he gave it to me.

Not expensive, but certainly valuable. Stamped swords are considered worthless and confiscated as illegal weapons in Japan, so the worst WW2 "swords" are actually the ones with the least in circulation.
