Well for the town being killed she doesn't want to kill people herself but if it's a last resort between the town and Sakura she will chose Sakura. She doesn't want to get her hands dirty and slaughter everyone, but if her master orders her to do so in order to survive then she will. She'd rather read a book or do anything else than kill, but if she has to in order to survive she will. Basically she doesn't have an impulse to kill like Gilles de Rias, but she isn't like Saber in her no killing innocents police. She still doesn't kill people as she sucks blood instead of eating their souls. She'll kill to defend her master and grant them victory. She hasn't become a monster yet because she hasn't killed humans in a mass spree of violence yet as she'd like to not kill anyone if she doesn't have to.

Medusa and Sakura are exactly the same, as was explained in HF, to the point where Sakura summoned Medusa without any catalysts thanks to such a powerful connection. They're both wolves in sheep's clothing, tortured creatures full of anger, with the potential to become enemies of humanity. They both had their anchors to sanity (Shirou for Sakura, and the Gorgon sisters for Medusa), but Medusa ended up killing her sisters like Sakura almost killed Shirou multiple times. Medusa's decision to take Shirou's side in HF was her way of repenting for her own nature, as if she was protecting her sisters from herself. So Medusa we see in FHA is a person who made peace with herself - she saved Sakura after all, and so the ghosts of her past finally let her go.

People tend to have a pretty significant hateboner for FGO because it's a gacha game. In reality, while it obviously doesn't compare to the visual novels, it's not that badly written, especially not the parts after the London singularity, when they started taking writing seriously. I especially remember enjoying the Remnants, they were a fun time. Basically, with so much content, you're bound to find something you like if you're willing to stick with it.
Apocrypha doesn't have the highs or the lows of FGO. It's just fucking boring, which is the worst thing it could be.

The references to the fourth war in F/SN were vague and undetailed, especially before HF. HF was originally bashed viciously for being an outlier compared to Fate and UBW, but after Zero showed that the events leading up to the fifth war were far closer to HF in tone, people were far more willing to accept HF and were unable to take Fate and UBW seriously anymore due to the ridiculous tonal dissonance.

That's not what I'm talking about at all. There were always dark moments in Nasuverse, but the stories were always ultimately hopeful, showing the strength of humanity. Zero doesn't have that, it's soaked in cynicism. The whole premise, like you yourself quoted, was "let's take Artoria, the paragon of virtue and goodness, and drag her through the mud". It's Nasu's fetish, as explained in Tsukihime. If you like edginess - you'll enjoy Zero, but nothing else in the Fate series is like that, thank fuck.

Dragons are fine I guess, but the rewrite couldn't be more obvious and half of the scene spent in complete silence (as if someone forgot to put in the BGM), so I have no clue who would even bother.

Shirou and Saber had more conflict and reconciliation. Their romance is similar to Shiki and Arc (in both cases the girl became infatuated with the protagonist because he looked at her like no one else ever did). That's why her romance feels more natural.

I think it's one of the better pieces of writing Nasu did. Shirou is a kid after all, and not a particularly bright one at that. He has trouble putting his emotions into words, and so does Saber. It's easy to write a super eloquent main character who has it all figured out and would've schooled Saber on everything she got wrong (after all, the writer understands fully why she's wrong), and Shiki was actually that kind of a character to some extent, but Nasu didn't do that here.

Those are two good lists, the first one isn't dedicated exclusively to swords but it has several sword centric books in it. The second is a list of japanese books on swords, to add to that list I'd recommend "The Art of the Japanese Sword: The Craft of Swordmaking and its Appreciation", it's kind of an updated version of "The Craft of the Japanese Sword", it's made by the same authors too. Some other very good books to read are, "The Sword: Form and Thought", "The Sword and the Crucible" by Alan Williams, which is a book that goes in-depth into the metallurgy of european swords, and I'd also recommend "The Knight and the Blast Furnace", it's focused more on the metallurgy of european armor though the information in it is still very useful, and on the topic of armour there is a good list for it here:

My hopes are that if Nasu does do a rewrite like he has said he wanted to, it's done competently and adds onto the base the route provides.
