In my experience, usually yes unless there's some secret place I'm not aware of. You can find more popular LNs but most still is never going to be uploaded ever. In terms of Case Files, I think I only found scans of the first one. I ended up just buying all the books later after reading that.

Did you forget that everyone was freaking out over the revelation of Einzbern using Siegfried's cursed gold to create the grail... only to moon readers to point out that it has been a thing since the VN but english readers didn't know because takajun translated Kotomine's line as Line of Gold?

FSN's translation needs A LOT of work. It took over a decade for the western fanbase to find out about Einzberns using Siegfried's cursed gold as part of the basis for the Grail (which does goes a long way in explaining why the Einzberns kept getting burned on the deal in Grail Wars). And the reason people finally found out was due to Siegfried being available in Apoc and FGO leading to material books talking about this very thing, finally leading to some people take a real closer look at the VN to find out that what Kotomine meant by "Line of Gold" in FSN was actually Das Rheingold.

English Fate/Zero translation is hilariously bad and translated from Chinese.

UTW fate translations are trash. Apocrypha is basically completely unwatchable.

cokesakto's translation of the Kara no Kyoukai novels is garbage. It is the most annoying kind of translation I have ever seen, where he obviously started from a position of translating it faithfully but apparently fancies himself to be a writer because he constantly inserts stuff that he completely made up that is nowhere to be found in the original novels, as well as changing all the established terms into his own stupid bullshit.

There's a reason why Mahoyo is just translating from the french translation (the French and Italian translation is excellent and tries to be as close as the Japanese as possible, including as many translation notes as needed.) instead of directly translating the japanese script, because no one that knows Japanese and English is willing to do it

I'd probably rewatch F/GO Babylonia before I rewatch HF. It's such a nothing show but at least it looks pretty and doesn't actively make me angry near the end. If I ranked the movies individually, the first two would be higher up while the last one would be way down.
Fate/Zero is where it is because it's great but it really isn't my type of show.

Finished Heaven's Feel recently and overall it seemed like a solid product to me. Most prominent flaws being the soundtrack and pacing but it excels in every other area as far as I'm concerned. No translation is ever perfect. It's always a balancing act between translating everything word-for-word and sounding stiff as fuck (and missing untranslatable language-specific things) and doing a full reinterpretation of what was written and losing the author's original style. FSN's translation wasn't perfect but it got the job done and didn't have any glaring flaws - it wasn't unreadable, meaningless, and it didn't sound like a self-parody, which is more than what I can say about many "professional" translations done in a "just be done with it" manner. Mahoyo will also be imperfect, but as long as it's readable and it gets the idea across, I don't see a problem.

Where do you draw the line? For some people actual MTL is still readable and meaningful and for others messing up a translation of a throwaway line that has lore implications is already out. French translation of Mahoyo has quite a few mistakes and based on what I've seen I have no faith in Hollow Moon to actually discover and correct them all while also not adding more of their own. Also translating some parts, that no one in the entire community fully knows the meaning of (some passages about Aoko's magic and Soujuurou's past), sounds like a nightmare to me. But I highly doubt HM would lose their sleep over that.

Some moments in Kagetsu Tohya translation were unreadable in meaningless, in some of the more "abstract" segments. Whoever translated them didn't seem to grasp what the character was talking about, but they still tried to translate it, and the result sounded like a scrambled mess of a paragraph that no thesaurus in the world would help you figure out. That's what proofreading and editing are for, and that's where I draw the line personally. The opposite extreme would be Nintendo Treehouse's translations, where they were rewriting entire paragraphs completely (or cutting them out) for no good reason.
And I'm still thankful to anons who translated Kagetsu Tohya. If it wasn't for them rising up to the challenge, I don't think anyone would've ever bothered to translate such a niche thing.

Shiki and Shirou are two sides of the same coin. One is a natural killer, the other is obsessed with avoiding murder to the point of self-harm. One is easygoing and (mostly) cheerful, the other is perpetually grouchy. One tries to plan his actions, the other just throws a Hail Mary and deals with the consequences. So they certainly don't have much common ground, but they're still both nice guys.

Well, first of all, translations of the fucking Bible and fan translations of VNs are kind of different. Second, you need to read up on the history of religion if you think that it's so simple. The entire Great Schism happened over what one side called mistranslations and the other considered canon. It's a can of worms not even the most esteemed theologians like to open. If we just had the original Bible around (not that such a thing existed, it was a collection of manuscripts rather than a single entity) and a perfect translator to point out which translations are "mistakes", everything would've been so much easier for the Church.

Still, the point is - translations of translations are actually extremely common, especially in history, where people very often have to deal with texts written in languages that no one has spoken in thousands of years (and that's if we're lucky enough to find the originals in the first place). As long as you're being smart about it, translating a translation is a fine practice.

Sorry, it was late and I didn't feel like typing this all up. The first two movies were fine, the last one just shit the bed so hard at key points that it retroactively brings the entire thing down for me.
1. The half-assed & inconsistent interpretation of Archer's arm causing Shirou to break down physically & mentally, despite it being a driving force of the route near the end.
2. Shirou vs Kotomine being a terrible fight even taking VN accuracy out of the equation (which couldn't be maintained anyway because of the previous point)
3. The general lack of Illya scenes in all three movies because the director thinks it being "just" the Sakura route is more important
4. The confrontation between Saber Alter & Rider getting way more focus, talent and screen time than every other fight in the movie despite being the least important one

6. Nine Lives Blade Works leaning towards a more offensive & agressive portrayal, rather than a defensive, calculated, more desperate one. It's actually kind of impressive how they got it right in an 8 second clip for the Vita OP but couldn't get it right here.
7. The fucking triple spin. It's so bad it deserves it's own point.
It's a fine series of anime movies that I'm sure will please certain types of fans, but as an adaptation it's like Rin's self-described flaw as a person, getting a lot of little things right but fucking up where it really matters. I think Lancer does a good job showing off Artoria's larger-than-life stature. You can look at her and see that she's The King even among Fate's extremely colorful cast. She's absolutely confident in her rule, seemingly unbeatable, and a paragon of virtue and chivalry, a divine king.
Her usual self, on the other hand, highlights her more human aspect. With Shirou not taking Sakura's side, I'm guessing we'd probably see Rider Alter (Gorgon?) at some point too. While those two would probably be a lost cause, do think it would fit to have Saber be saved here? Or is it just too greedy? They retconned it later (in HF1, we see how Saber was "replaced" by Alter in her mind), but in the original, the process of corruption was far more direct - literal goo tentacle rape until she got mindbroken.
