Haha, actually I was doing better this time around with Youmu with being able to pull off some simple corner strings and guard crush into dragon punches. I also figured how to do mid screen pressure in those matches with less risk of a stop sign kick to the face, as you'd take a bit of damage if you missed the sign at the moment I jump to graze forward .

In full srs mode, that's pretty much limited to just me and sadfacesanae, who doesn't play so much. If I'm to be crude, we have tons of shit-to-intermediate players, with maybe six players who stop by often at a level higher than that. You should never be hard-pressed to find someone at your skill level. The real downside of #hisouten is that due to the nature of the game, we get kiddies sometimes and the amount of stupidity rises exponentially, but it usually doesn't last.

There's too much cheap shit, random elements, and extremely biased matchups, so that the game practically devolves into rock paper scissors on the character select screen, except Youmu is super paper. I hate fighting about half the damn cast, mostly because I find the idea of instant graze dash attacks fucking stupid and contrary to the entire fuckin point, and I hate all the characters that can be played competently by just air dashing at the enemy, using j.A, and then using an air combo, since the anti air in this game is annoyingly weak except for like 3 characters who have proper DPs, and even then it doesn't really dissuade the use of boring tactics like that, since an air combo does way more than a DP. The game overall just feels incredibly slippery, Suwako and Youmu are the only characters with pressure I could actually call good, techs are still too fuckin long, damage in general needs to be upped to give it a real feeling of tension, and there being a few particularly small and/or fast characters that are near impossible to pressure with large parts of the cast really pisses me off, and then there's the fact that these same characters are the best at putting you into THEIR pressure, since they can easily get through any attempt at zoning with bullets or melee just because you move so bloody fast (to compensate for the enormous field of play) relative to the amount of area you can cover with ungrazeable attacks. This is actually why I like Alice, because despite being terrible in about every other way, she can actually do something about pretty much any predictable approach if she sees it coming. She's all about prediction and zoning, which just seems really lacking in the other characters.

Yep. It's just a crossup--only the second part hits. Once you figure that out, it's too easy. Not very safe on block, free dial-A combo after blocking it. Man, I wish Remi players would use it more often so I could beat them faster.

You have to tell me a few things.

1. How do I BE? Most of time when I try to do it, I either just stop blocking or instead use a simple dash (D instead of DD). For a BE up I have to press 2, but whenever I try that, I get a combo to the face.

2. How do I hit something in the air? Every time I try a melee move in the air, to 90% you hit me first and to the other 10% we both hit each other at the same time. Also, how exactly do I jump, graze and melee. The enemy is in the air firing bullets, jump and graze works fine, but when I press the A button to attack, grazing stops and I get a bullet to the face.

I think that was it.
You even beat me perfect with some characters.
I just have no idea what to do. I'm in a blockstring, get guardcrushed and combo'd. Then I wake up and you make a blockstring accross the whole screen, I'm guardcrashed again in the other corner.

Hell, on the few occasion where BE actually worked, I had 3 orbs crushed.

1. 2DD gets you out of most situations. BE lets you graze in the middle of blockstun and gets you out. If you want to escape, think first what will come next. BE doesnt make you invuln so melee still hits. Do it after the melee move that will follow up with a bullet (but you can still bait it with a 4. A for example).

2. It's all about range and speed. Reisens j5a is slower than others so you will most likely get hit by youmu in the air. But you can also use j6a which has a nice range. When you are already in the zone with 2 characters rubbing against each other, theres only luck involved on who hits first so I just block most of the time.

tl;dr when you know whats coming, you can always beat it.

Hold the D button longer or continue with a highjump or something. You always graze right into my bullets and then stop grazing. (I had the same problem when I received a few point black 5A's from your Patchouli).

Use more melee between your bullets. If you see me dashing (grazing) in your direction, trying to shoot me won't do anything. Once I knew that you always use bullets in air, all I had to do was graze until I touch your character, continue until the bullets are past me and then press A.

Since we were playing random select, if you're cornered, all you have to do is block since there are very few characters (1) with whom I know any blockstrings to force you to BE. I'll be sure to leave a huge opening after some attacks.

Massacre on Mt.Ooe, the card which I used to finish the match with Suika, can be escaped by dashing back/up. (Or hitting me, but it was typhoon, so hitting won't do)


So, the Suwako mirror was quite hilarious. None of us really knew what to do with her. I have that spellcard, but I have no idea how to activate it!

You should definitely train your melee ; the way you avoid contact at all cost must make matches look like survival mode to you..
I tried my best to force you to get into melee at the end lol.

Also, don't forget to block or techroll on wake up. It may sound stupid but you were really vulnerable when i focused on oki.

There are a few tricks you might be interested in picking up to add to your characters. One of the things I noticed you didn't do was dragon punch on wakeup if the player is running directly over you. It punishes aggressive poking on wakeup but is pretty vulnerable when the opponent keeps a little bit of distance. Another thing you can add is double tapping left or right to graze in mid-air instead of always using the graze button. This allowed me to switch directions very quickly without using spirit and go after your character on the ground. Finally, did you know that doing a j.2a moments before you land will cancel the momentum of travel and allow you to use moves immediately after? This is opposed to the normal landing where you slide a bit and do a ground touching animation before you can continue.

I need Yuyuko advice. Like, really badly. I have a fairly good handle on her moves, but I still keep instinctively doing things that fuck me over and still have trouble comboing into her bullets. And I'm also pretty terrible in the corner, both attacking and defending.

I think my biggest problem is misjudging how fast my attacks come out. The slow attack speed is also a pain in the corner against faster characters like Tenshi or Youmu.

I'm also probably not using my 421b/c as much as I should be.

her 5C is one of the best in the game, for cornering j. 2A for good starter combo. 66C is pretty useful, and her 623B good for combo finisher and close quick melee. usual pressure are 5aaaa,2b,2c,623B. always dish out homing 5C to keep opponents busy, 421Cx2 is good for jumper crazy opponents.

GGs. Here's a tips though. Stop air-teching all the time. There are times when its appropriate but against someone who's good in the corner, you'll eat a lot of damage. If you saved any of those replays watch them and notice how much damage you're taking from my air-teching chasing.
