Hey /jp/. I'm currently in Sendai, Japan as part of an international exchange. I will start studying at Tohoku University next Friday. Right now I'm in my dorm, bored out of my mind. I've gone outside but haven't walked too far seeing as the surrounding suburbs aren't pedestrian friendly, and because people stare at me. Anything I should know? Need protips.

Oh and by the way, I don't know /any/ Japanese.

pic related - its a Japanese water bottle that had Beyonce on it.

No, Kodak and Sony and still shit even in non-compact forms. Sony has Zeiss lenses and still manages to fuck up (crap sensors). Kodak has terrible color on the sensor. however, I never did explore if it is correctable from raw, but then again after spending all that money you might as well have bought a fuji, nikon or canon and had something that worked right to begin with.

Now, to contradict what you said ... Panasonic Lumix compacts are made of win, if you can afford them (Leica makes similar models but they fucked up the firmware (the color is always off), and that is the only difference really)

>> No.3442982

>>3442948
No, that is not a raw file. That is a jpeg. Does your camera even do raw sensor dumps to the card? They will be MUCH larger than that.

nah, Canon is always behind Nikon in the markets they compete in, and in digital they are also behind Fuji. There are also some competitors that are much better than anything listed, but they are so expensive it isn't worth mentioning.

>implying that canon doesn't have the biggest market share

just because Canon products are often shit in comparison to Nikon, doesn't mean they sell less cameras. Even with Samsung and Nikon offering fullframe cameras and Panasonic really growing in the compact market with their m4/3 stuff, Canon is still undeniably #1

>>3443062
There was no implication of that. There were, however, full frame digital backs in large and medium formats before there were in small format. The only people who make digital cameras who have made large and/or medium cameras are Kodak (who hasn't touched either in maybe 30 or so years) and Fuji (you will likely never run across them, but the large format Fujis are very nice).

They are a lot of fun to use. I personally prefer using film cameras because then I get to spend time in the dark room playing. I have a Toyo 4x5 that I love to use and an 8x10 that I made by hand.

Sendai is a stupid place, why did you go there?

Find out where the city tourism office is. They should have English information about local attractions as well as not-so-local stuff.

If you have money, just hop on the shinkansen and go somewhere more interesting. If you're poor, find out about Sendai's local stuff. Every town in Japan has a bunch of strange and usually pointless things that they're really proud of.
