the coding part is easy, onscripter is easy to learn and if you want to fork out money to buy a real engine they would be even easier to use.

the hard part is writing, CG and music, in that order. Not everyone can become authors, so not everyone are cut out to write visual novel scripts.

Eh, I'm a writer, but I've never played a VN, let alone cared enough to look into one. Is there much a difference between a VN and a dating game/H-game?

Also, is the game in question one in which multiple paths and thus alternate stories can be taken, or will it simply be a straightforward "A AND B WILL ALWAYS HAPPEN, BUT YOU MUST CHOOSE X, Y, AND Z IN THAT ORDER FOR C TO HAPPEN." kind of thing?

If all else fails, and you can't get a good story, just get someone rehash Nurse-kun's story, or make Blindmuteloli's story have a bittersweet ending.

"Dating sim" is really not a proper name for it at all. A visual novel is a kind of "adventure game", and it may or may not have H in it. There are good VNs and bad VNs.

Oh, no, if there's more than four characters/groups of characters doing separate things at once, I ALWAYS make a flowchart.

Usually, I'll set up a graph sort of thing to visualize who's doing what at what time of day and then lay them on top of each other.

I know it's overly complicated, and I probably didn't explain it well, but it REALLY helps when writing, and keeps you from having to rewrite large chunks of story later on.

It was the hospital. The place I had always been. The place where I wanted to make people around me happy. The place where she was, the person I wanted to make happy most of all.

She was asleep, resting peacefully, her eyes tightly shut and golden unkempt hair matted up against the pillow and her cheeks. She looked almost normal, were it not for the uncountable number of wires and tubes running from her body all the way to the machine in the corner of the room and the night's sweat on her brow.

I had been in this room, for so longer, ever since she fell into that state. Waiting for her to wake up. Waiting for her to start asking me what we were going to do today. Waiting for that one moment when I can look her in the eyes again and tell her 'Everything's going to be okay.'

"An unforseen complecation...huh?"

I murmured to myself as I stood up out of the uncomfortable metal chair I had become accustomed to after all these days. That's what the white coats told me when I rushed into the hospital with her on my back, her breaths shallow and her whole body in pain.

And suddenly when everything was looking so hopefull it all just came tumbling down around her. There was nothing I could do. It was all in the hands of that piece of 'modern engineering' sitting there in that godforsaken corner. Without a care in the world. It didn't care. It just didn't care.

I looked out through the window of the room, out at the rest of life on this little planet called Earth. Buildings of cement and steel reaching out towards the very tip of the morning sky. Roads trailing off to the corners of the world. People out and about on their own with their own challenges and problems for the day.

"Problems..."

Another hushed murmur to myself. Problems, that's right. There's billions of people on this miniscule rock flying around in the vast expanse of space. There's probably hundreds if not thousands suffering as much as she was now.

But they couldn't matter. They didn't matter. I don't know them. I didn't know what they liked. I didn't know what they hated. She was...special, for the lack of a better term, to me, because I knew her. I knew what she liked. I knew what she hated. I didn't want to see her slip away.

I clenched my hand into a fist and pounded gently against the window, rattling the glass slightly. I bit onto my lowerlip, trying to hold back a tear or two. I didn't want to cry, it would be a show of weakness. She could wake up anytime and would look to me for strength. The last thing she'd need is to console me as well.

"God..."

I never prayed before. I don't know why I need. I was desperate. It was selfish, to waste my first prayer on saving just a single girl, but she deserved it the most.

"Save her."

I pulled myself away from the scenery of the outside and started walking back towards my seat, preparing for yet another day of torment.

But there it was, that angelic voice calling out to me pulling me away from another day rooted to that freezing metal chair wondering when it would all be okay again. I rushed over to the bedside as I saw her eyes flicker open with just that little glint of life in them, burning away as birght as it always did. I wrapped my hands around her only hand, grasping it tightly, wrapping it in warmth as she came to.

"Sorry...I guess I was just a little sleepy."

She uttered whilst half yawning. Then a smile appeared on her lips that seemed to magically restore my energy and vigor.

"Idiot, you shouldn't be apologising about a thing."

I let go of her only hand and this time wrapped my arms around her fragile body. She felt a little cold so I did what I felt like doing, warming up her battered body with my own. I didn't want to let go, not ever but when her tiny little fingers pressed up against my chest I could feel she was pushing me away.

"I thought it was the end...I thought I was already dead."

I looked down to see in my waiting arms a teddy bear, a familiar one at that. It was my own gift that I had given her in our earlier days. The one she had cared for so long. Held so close. It felt different than the day I had handed it to her. It was warm. Warm with her feelings. Warm with love. She gave it all to me.

All of her love.

Then I felt something soft press against my forehead. It was a kiss. A kiss from her lips against my skin. She quietly resigned herself back into bed, pulling the covers back up to her neck as she stared upwards at the ceiling. As soon as I managed to pull myself together again to see that flame of life in her eyes begin to slowly dim and be replaced with more tears.

"I think...it's time...to...go home."

That voice of her's had deteriorated to but a whisper now, barely audable, so very weak. I fell to my knees as the realization of it all hit me like a lead pipe to the head. I wiped away a single tear from her eyes only to see it replaced with another.

"Thank...you...for...letting...me...live...again."

"Then you came along...Although everyone was gone...You said it was okay to live again."

She clutched onto the blanket and pulled it close to herself, close to her heart. Eyes ever focused downwards, away from me. I couldn't tell what she was feeling. Was she happy? Was she in pain?

"You showed me many things...Took me to many places...Introduced me to so many people..."

She nodded, as if to confirm something as her grip on the length of blanket she was holding loosened and fell spiraling back down to the bed. The her head lifted up and she showed me those eyes that were filled with life now also filled with tears streaming down her cheeks but with that smile, that beautiful smile on her lips still there.

"After everything was gone, you said it was okay to live again. You were right."

All the weight that had pilled onto my shoulders ever since I agreed to look after this precious child were whisked away. All of it gone. There were no more regrets. Just the happiest feeling I had ever felt remained, so overwhelming it almost whisked me away as well.

"Nurse-kun, I want to give you a present."

She pipped in, beckoning me over. I had no idea what she meant by present so of course my interest was piqued and of course there was no way no that I could refuse any of her demands especially with the way I had been captivated. I took a step forwards, back up to the bedside. The little one limbed girl rumaged around underneath the blanket looking for something then without warning stuffed it into my hands.

The pauses between her words were getting longer, more unbareable. I wanted to scream out but I couldn't find anything to say. Not even a "Don't" or "Please". It wasn't due to fear, or me becoming overwhelmed with emotions, it was because it just felt right not to say a thing.

"Mom...dad...I'm..."

Her last breath, the last word I'll ever hear from her again.

"...Home."

In hindsight, when I look back at it I realized, God never needed to save anyone.

The little girl, who was robbed of everything.

The lonesome man who was missing something.

We had saved each other.
