Souten no Celenaria? No one ever talks about it, but the gameplay looks more solid than Sharnoth's. No idea what it's really about though.

Look through Liar-soft's other games. They have a lot of gameplay oriented titles. I wish I could suggest which ones are more fun to play, but I've only played Born Freaks. Maybe someone with more experience can recommend something.

Eushully also makes actual games. Dungeon Meister might be fairly easy to translate. Kuutei Senki also looks interesting to play.

Shogun 8 looks like feudal japan mixed with space-opera fleet battle and Rance-levels of cheesy character designs.

I really only wanted to do Sharnoth because I remembered /jp/ talking about it months ago and thought the art looked nice, I haven't read anything about the gameplay.
It's not a straight VN I gather.

This was partially to improve my own japanese, so speed was never really something I had planned on exhibiting.
Just putting that out there.

Also, coding is pretty much beyond me at this point in time.

Thanks for the recommendations though, I'll look into them.
