Does the Fate Zero folder only have the anime or also the LN. I think many people here have read the FSN VN but only few have read the Fate Zero LN. When it comes to discussions between FSN and FZ it's often only discussed between the VN and the FZ anime. Which is a bit unfair to FZ. Although most secondaries only compare the FSN or UBW anime and the FZ anime.

Hoo boy, I don't remember the last time I've seen this horseshit system in a VN. It doesn't do anything other than waste your time, and I'm surprised mirror-moon didn't patch it out somehow in their custom version.

So I found a different version of the game, and this one actually does let you save, but it runs in crisp 640x480 (unlike the OP post version, which upscales the text properly and runs in any resolution).
So Mirror-Moon (or whoever's responsible for the newer(?) version) fucked something up, it's not TMs fault.

I have a question for the setting.
From what I've heard Tsukihime and Fate can't be happening at the same time because DAAs can't exist in the universe where Heroic spirits can be summoned. The members of the DAA like Zelretch and type mercury can still exist in the Fate universs it's just that the organization doesn't according to what I've heard. When was that established? The feeling that I've got is that at least the intention of FSN and F/HA is that they take place in the same universe as Tsukihime, that's why Zelretch is also mentioned. So when was that retconned?

It was offically retconned in like 2017, in the HF1 booklet I believe. Writers reveal a little talk they had where Nasu explains the world split, Sanda quotes lore from fate/complete material that contradicts what Nasu is saying, and Nasu says "That got burned by Goetia (the fgo villain)"
He had already retconned that in early 2016 though, with the FGO-melty manga. People just weren't sure back then if he had fucked up or if it was intentional.
In essence, Fate/complete material III (World material) has a whole section about the church and burial agency. It says that they can all fight servants, that the DAAs are their greatest foes, and yet they're in a weird situation where an DAA is actually part of their agency. Complete material 3 was published at the end of 2010.
I believe Nasu had already used the "parallel worlds" excuse shortly after F/SN released, but he only started with the "Tsukihime-core and Fate-core worlds" shit in 2016. Before that they were fully intended to be really similar to each other.

Doesn't Carnival Phantasm mention something about different worlds? Ok, that shouldn't be considered canon. But in white moon princess rin as kaleido ruby appears and tells arc that the monster (illya as the grail monster) comes from her world. Maybe it just meant different series at that time. Also Carnival phantasm screws it up a bit where the tsukihime and fate cast not only live in the same universe but also in the same city in one episode.

But it feels a bit forced if it was at late as 2016.

Chaldeas was completed in 1999 in FGO through unknown means and its completion is possibly the trigger for the Overcount 1999 event that eventually dooms the world in several timelines. Reading the interview and I feel the same. I don’t like how he keeps using the word Rebirth and explosive when talking about Tsukihime. He’s also talking about the game like a piece of entertainment like FSN instead of Mahoyo which is more like a movie to him. It also sounds like he cut out the Far-side route on purpose due to this being a rebirth of Tsukihime. The difference is that Nasu actually has a base to work from here (the original). The first part of Mahoyo was based off of that novel he wrote way back when. Voice is indeed a strong tool and it can greatly affect how the readers view a character yeah. Overall I think TM/Aniplex did a good job with the casting (well the audition happened some years ago and the VAs had to wait for a long time before the game finally got announced) and the VAs performed well, especially Arcueid-Ciel-Akiha ones. Nasu is such a weird dude. To me, Mahoyo is like an enhanced book. It's a visual novel with exactly the text of a proper book but with visuals + music to elevate it to another level.
