havent seen translations but from playing through the demo a few times

miracle mallet: after a delay turns bullets in front of you into money, not a 1:1 ratio, basically ddc magic absorber
yukari gap: gives you the reimu+yukari screenwarp from 11, use it on the side of the screen to warp to the opposite side
byakuren scroll: buffs your bomb, i only got it as sanae but it makes sanae's bomb go off three times in a row
cirno: gives you a little diamond that fires tiny ice projectiles in all directions randomly, about as cute and useful as cirno is
clownpiece's moon: throws a moon in front of you that deletes bullets, doesnt seem to damage bosses
alice's doll: summons a shanghai doll that floats up to enemies and shoots them once its close enough, its invincible and totally automatic
koishi's hat: i got it but i didnt notice any effect

the heart and bomb cards give you a heart and bomb, the diamond on a chain gives you around 50$, the power bunny dango gives you around 0.5 power

ive's also seen youmu's ghost half, kagerou's wolf and two wallets but idk what they do, and each boss has their own card that always appears at the end of their stage

>> No.33840846

Any speculation on what the remaining 26 cards might be?
The big gap between Reimu's and Youmu's options makes me think that those will all be Equipment cards; Mari laser, homing Sanae snake, and aimable Sakuya knife seem likely, then four others? Lockable Remi bat? Penning Udonge gun?
As for active items, more stuff from (or at least inspired by) ISC seems likely. Maybe Sumi's teleporting phone?
Lots of potential for passives, but I don't have any good predictions.

I don't think that the first card will be something special. The cards will probably be shifted around, if the card placement was final there should have been four empty spaces for the remaining bosses after the dragon card.

Some card ideas:
Aya's fan - increases speed
Joon's purse - get 50% more money but double the loss on death
Aya's/Hatate's/Sumireko's camera - clear bullets like the mallet but with larger area instead of $ and can be aimed
Suika's bottle - turn into fog for a few seconds invincibility
Sakuya's clock - stop time for a few seconds, touching bullets still kills you
Divine spirit - on death enter trance mode with increased speed and damage for like 10 seconds

Seems kinda weak when you can only buy one card per stage, unless the later cards get really expensive.
How about converts all gold to power when not at max power and makes it slightly easier to reach max power (every 90 or 80 point items instead of 100)? Basically lets you get to max power quickly at the cost of not being able to buy an expensive card in the first stage.

>if the card placement was final there should have been four empty spaces for the remaining bosses
Good point, but even so, why not put Reimu's option next to Youmu's? Seven more Equipment cards seems reasonable, too, considering how Passives there are.
The existing boss cards may be arranged like that to prevent spoiling how many more there will be in the full game (ie, maybe there are two stage 4 or 5 bosses, but he wants to keep us guessing).
And if this is anything like QP Shooting, the first card will be some ominous hard-mode you unlock by beating the game or unlocking all the other cards.

Guys, is it just me or is Sakuya absolute trash? The game is actually giving me some resistance with her, but it was a breeze to clear with the others (even my very first playthrough, as Reimu, with the mallet that I didn't know how to use and not buying any cards other than lives).

>>33844304
Equipment cards for Marisa, Sanae and Sakuya are shoo-ins. Reisen is more likely to be represented with an Active card that brings up her LoLK shield.
The presence of Shanghai and Cirno might be a hint that there'll be cards to represent Patchouli (her and Alice were both in SA) and Aya (her and Cirno, HSiFS). Maybe there'll be Remilia and Yuyuko cards too cuz Sakuya and Youmu.
I'm 100% expecting a card that boosts your speed. Probably not as a Passive, might be a time-limited Active, but it'll be there for sure.
If ZUN wants to do something with grazing for this game, I can see there being Passives that speed up Active card cooldowns if you graze, and/or that generate money by grazing a lot.
Sumi's camera or teleportation are easy ideas for another Active.
I really wish Joon would get some love too, but it probably won't happen :( the only ideas I had for her are already taken up by the bag items and Kanako's card.
The first slot might be a special Extra stage gimmick type of thing, akin to the Doyou season power in HSiFS.

just keep on playing while having fun (focusing on 1 game can help, but you can switch it up and play a different one until you feel like playing it again if you're bored with it); eventually you will 1cc it and afterwards it's just a matter of you continuing to play different games to improve.
If you want my advise, focus mostly on one game (I recommend eosd as your first one), but whenever you're tired of playing the levels over and over take a break and play a different one until you feel like continuing with it. Someone made a patch for it. It was posted here and I played around with it some, but I forgot to save the link to their webpage (they had some other neat stuff on there, too).
It seemed like a pretty ambitious piece of work, and it might not be entirely accurate, but it seemed accurate enough for casual play.

I liked EoSD as my first game. The boss attacks are simpler (not easier) with more focus on raw dodging. It's very intuitive and beginner friendly, in my opinion. Going from EoSD to PCB, I found it frustrating to have to actually study specific attacks to figure out how to dodge them.
I think it was OK for me to play 1 game until I got a Normal 1CC and then switch to the next. It's been nice to be able to go back and do the other shots on Normal as a warm-up for doing Hard and Extra, and I would probably not have enjoyed myself as much if I forced myself to play more after getting a Normal 1CC, since already that used to take me weeks. Extra is usually way more difficult than Normal, so I'd leave that for later as well (I used to bomb my way to the boss just to see the intro dialogue).

PCB has a pretty long stage four that can become a pain to replay, but the gimmick of the game basically makes it so you can take a hit for free every once in a while.
IN is probably a little bit harder in terms of pattern complexity and bullet density, but the way deathbombs work in this game make it extremely forgiving overall.
I've also seen MoF cited as an easy 1cc, but I'd venture to say that has a lot to do with how easy it is to spam bombs with little to no consequences. The game itself (imo) is a lot tougher than PCB or IN.

survival and scoring categories per game. each team is able to sign up a player per category. some matches don't have players for every team so it's 2 players in that case. The players compete for iscore which basically is a value that represents their achievement in relation to the shottype. for survival each shot has a base score and gets halved for every miss/bomb. for scoring the iscore is calculated in relation to the current world record of the respective shot. It's a bit more complicated than that but this is the idea. The system basically encourages playing things other than the best shottype.
on 3 player matches, first place team gets 2 points, 2nd gets 1 point. on 2 player matches first place gets 1 point. these points are added up across the entire competition. whichever team has the most points at the end, wins.

It depends on what your goal is. For survival, I'd say
Required: Survival of the Fittest
Top: Dragon Pipe, Shanghai Doll
High: Keystone, Moon (if you're good at reacting) or Rabbit's Foot, Elixir (if not)
Mid: Half-Half Phantom, Yin-yang Orb, Mallet
Low: Sutra, Hat, Ice Fairy
And everything else is irrelevant.

But that's kind of pointless since we don't even know half the cards, everyone has a different play style, and messing around with combinations and figuring stuff out yourself is half the fun anyway.

>do the games slow down on older computers?
Yes, although it's not like they were designed with that in mind (in the case of Touhou, at least). If you had a particularly weak machine, dense attacks could get slowed down noticeably. That's why replays record instantaneous FPS and score entries list the average slowdown.
As for how they run smoothly most of the time, that's just good programming practices with DirectX. How the bullets move is nothing to do with it, that's all trivial CPU calculations; as for how so many 2D sprites can get rendered so quickly, I'm not well-versed enough in graphics programming to say exactly, but it's the kind of thing the GPU is good at.
Even today, though, I often get little spikes of slowdown when a lot of bullets get cancelled at once.

It's not like Mari-B in MoF where it destroys the entire stage, one pattern getting fucked up by ZUN allowing the boss to become vulnerable isn't any more hanus than abusing a blindspot, especially since bombing during the survival card is going to happen naturally as soon as a player thinks they're about to die

It sounds like a 1CC. Each of Kaguya's Final Spells advance the time, until dawn breaks. Think of them as bonus spells that you get to play if you finish the game with time to spare.

Can anyone offer some tips on Shoot the Bullet? Specifically, for stage 10-2, is there any trick to it, or do you just have to quickly read and dodge the blue waves? For 10-5, how do you not get trapped by the silver coins? And for 10-6, is there any way to manipulate it to get a more favorable distribution of large orbs, or do you always have to dodge through the thick part at some point?
I have hundreds of shots taken in all of these and feel no closer to actually clearing them.

>> No.33989337

>>33988981
For 10-2 you have to drift to the left or right slowly for the blue bullets, avoid the red bullets usually going in the same direction, and once the new blue bullet wave comes quickly move to the opposite direction and take the shot. Just stay under her and tap dodge to one direction for the most part really. 10-2 is easy, it can be done a multitude of ways.

10-5 is simple but a bit tough. Just try to take long (tap dodge) movements left or right alternating between the two once you reach the edge of the screen. No quick long movements. Once the grey silver coins come in you can choose to stay back and start sniping shots instead or staying upclose, but of course that's more dangerous for though better for points.

10-6 is tricky but its mostly misdirection and and having a more macro approach to dodging. Start buy choosing a left or right side after the first laser and try take a shot for the bonus for the second laser. Once after that move to the other direction. For the third laser (bottom right for example) and then move the left for the fourth. Before the fourth laser comes in quickly move right to dodge the laser and from there you will get an opening to take the the shot near top center. Rinse and repeat. The last wave is scary but it its the same idea.

That's what I thought for 10-2, but the blue bullets get so messy during the last couple of phases that I can't get through them.
For 10-5, are you implying that I should be staying up close the whole time? My current strat is to move in a large U shape, going down the side, across the bottom, then back up the other side to get a shot. I'll try not moving down instead and see how it goes.

Just stay still/minimal movement for the most part when the last wave comes. Move up when the red bullets are about to stop shooting and take the shot then move down the screen and wait for the next wave

For 10-5 its mostly moving left to right and waiting for a chance to shoot, and misdirecting a small portion of the shot when you are at the edge after taking the shot if that makes sense, U shape would mostly come into play on the last waves if you really want to get an upclose shot, though it's think easier to not fall back once the last few waves comes, just steadily move to the left/right and then move up a bit when you see a chance.

Random tip, remember that the closer you are to the end of the game the less important it is to save bombs. If you're on say, your second to last life and you have a bomb or two, and you're on her last spell card, definitely be less conservative than usual. Don't spam them, but in a situation like that it's okay to use one once you start feeling really pressured.

Depends on how you get the pieces. I'd personally rank the systems like
>14's auto-collecting
>6, 9, 10, and 16's score-based
>11's not dying to boss attacks
>13, 17, and 18's dropped by key enemies
>7 and 8's point-item-based
>UFOs
You might point out that gathering point items isn't that much different from auto-collecting, but it just feels way less fun to me. You lose out on the ability to put spell card bonuses, graze, and PoC value to use compared to raw score-based extends, but you also don't get the value flexibility, reward for routing, or ability to trade bombs for lives like in 14. It kind of encourages you to use the PoC more, but doesn't feel like the games are built around it.

>> No.34043211

>>34043121
UFO's system is great, since it encourages some nice acrobatics to grab UFO tokens in time, and makes for interesting routing with bullet canceling as a bonus for summoning UFOs.
I can't believe you'd put it below SA's system, which is really just "multiply the life penalty of dying by 1.2 against bosses". It's the most uninteresting system of them all. (Although 7 and 8's system is almost strictly inferior to just giving lives by raw score, it's still better than SA's system).

>> No.34043433

>>34043211
When you put it that way, 11's does sound pretty boring, but I like the feeling of getting pieces for succeeding at the core mechanic of the game. And the next two tiers are also just as boring, in my opinion, but less rewarding.
As for UFOs, yeah, they were a neat idea, but the implementation was way too punishing and had too large an effect on the game as a whole for me to really find it enjoyable. I'd love to eventually see a version that's somewhere between 12's fuck-you-from-every-angle and 17's no-thought-necessary.
I should probably point out that I still like all these games overall, it's just that the first three tiers are the only ones where I specifically enjoy collecting lives.

Even in later stages, there are plenty of parts where you can basically bomb for free with how many P items/red enemies are on screen. Still, you shouldn't need many bombs during stage portions, maybe a couple in 4 and one in 6, the rest is very routeable.
You can take advantage of the first three stages to pump your faith meter up and make sure you're getting all the extends as soon as possible.
