Isn't it somewhat reasonable that Satoko would stop caring about Satoshi at this point? She's just taken in all 100 years of Rika's experience, plus however long she spent between deaths during the high school saga, all with Satoshi in Irie's rape dungeon. Without him being around her for so long, is it not possible for her to not care for him as much anymore?
Mind you, I still have issues with her going all gay for Rika. I mean, if she's been focused on Rika the whole time, then what was that thing in Tatari about? Even the group thought she was dragging K1 off for sexy time. I can't believe that was all an act, considering she's bad enough of an actor she ducks on reflex after seeing a box that was a trap once in the massive amount of loops she's now seen.

The point is she's just not well written at all. As much as I love her I gotta admit, it seems pretty fucking stupid that people would go "Rika doesn't care about anyone" when now the thing to go with is "well it's normal for Satoko not to give a shit about anyone". It's either one or the other. It's normal after 100 years and some mental exhaustion that some of those feelings towards anyone would be lost, but that'd be a reason enough for her to drop the thing about Rika too, yet she's dead set on fucking "winning". Rika wanted to live past June 1983, so she had to give a shit about that despite being old. Satoko being attracted to Rika enough she's willing to spend 100 miserable years trying to learn everything about her, that's a bit too much when other people don't apply.

I agree with you on that. It's what I meant by my second point: I don't really get how she can obsess over Rika to such a regard, while also not caring about Satoshi, while also being in a state of flux as to whether she cares about the rest or not. The obsession feels forced, as if it was added purely because Lambda obsesses over Bern. The discarding of her feelings towards Satoshi are fair in a vacuum, but she stills seems to completely disagree with Rika wanting to leave, as if she just watched 100 years of fragments completely ignoring Rika's valid reasons for wanting to leave.
It doesn't validate what Rika has done to her, but if anything, that should be driving Satoko away from Rika, not hurtling towards her at rapid speed. It's as if they want Satoko to become Lambda, only they thought Lambda's only character was 'wants to fuck Bern'.

Considering this last episode it's a huge mess to properly give you a theory. The idea is that Lambdadelta created herself thought retro causality. So Lambdadelta helped Takano so Takano could kill Rika, Rika will now loop until she wins and leads to the situation which Satoko doesn't want, so Satoko starts looping and becomes a Witch that will turn out into Lambdadelta which will help Takano and the cycle goes on.

Anons, please tell me something. Don't you guys like complex stories? Personally after seeing a shit ton of normal stories I started to want more complex plots. And when I say complex I mean kudzu plot type of stories, like the zero escape series. I really like the direction Gou is heading to right now greatly linking Umineko and Ciconia, it's starting to become interesting. I know, Satoko's motivations are kinda dumb, but can't you let it slide just to enjoy the story more?

>> No.33538643

Retconned. Maybe.

Rika doesn't remember the first post Matsuribayashi timeline, so unless Saikoroshi happened in one of the other post Matsuribayashi timelines, then Rika doesn't remember it at all. Why would it be skipped/retconned? I don't have an explanation other than Saikoroshi isn't important for Gou. This doesn't really make sense considering the way Rika treats Satoko in the Saikoroshi fragment There still could be references to it in one of the last two episodes.

>>33538570
Hanyuu is big fat liar and not just in Saikoroshi.

>>33538593

You can better explain things like how fragments work if it's all a simulation, because memories or lessons learned between loops happen outside of the looper's mind. If you want to give Ryukishi the benefit of the doubt, she viewed 100 years of hinamizawa fragments.
Her perspective of those fragments wasn't bound to her physical body like Rika, but rather a panoramic, game master view, as she could see scenes she wasn't in (like a crazed Keiichi killing Mion and Rena.)
She had an entire century to analyze hinamizawa on detail. Any password, she'll have learned. Any physical key or copy or where it's stored, she'll know where it is.
As long as there's a single gap in security in any day during the time she's looping, she can take advantage of that precise moment to enter the lab.

Why is Satoko completely obsessed with Rika while completely ignoring Satoshi and Keiichi? In the VN Satoko was more much more dependent of a big brother figure than she ever was to Rika. We know that because Rika specifically says this in Tatarigoroshi to K1: there are things I can't do for Satoko, she needs her nii-nii (or something along those lines).

Yandere Satoko is a huge downgrade and oversimplification of her character. Gou is looking like bad fanfiction made by people that didn't understand the characters, even if it's made by Ryukishi.

Saikoroshi happened in the original timeline. Featherine had Satoko literally go back to a time when looper Rika had just won against Takano and Saikoroshi didn't happen yet. From there, she started fucking things up for Rika. Then Rika got looping memories again at the end of this episode, but she only remembers the previous timeline, where she went to St. Lucia again with looper Satoko and they died.

Basically Rika has no memories of the original Matsuribayashi world and what happened later. Only about a very similar world where Satoko was already a looper, the world immediately before Featherine granted her the ability to remember loops again. All this time Rika has been an NPC while Satoko looped, remembering all her original loops but none of the loops Satoko subjected her to.

When Rika remembered St.Lucia at the start of the second episode, she was remembering a world where Satoko was already looping for many years and Saikoroshi didn't happen.

>How are the characters aside from Satoko butchered?
I think Rika going from like someone who does genuinely care about their best friend in the deepest possible manner who wanted to achieve a happy ending with all of them to like St. Lucia lady who does the absolute minimum to help her, while justified in a personal sense, does kind of fuck with Rika's character. And considering these two are literally the main characters of Gou you're basically two for two of the characters Gou desperately needed not to fuck up.

My point is that it's not believable that Satoko had this one track mind that could be exploited like this to begin with. Not with her emotional dependence on Rika, at least. Satoshi literally went insane protecting her and Keiichi fought with Oryou and gathered the whole village to fight for her, but Ryukishi didn't think they were that relevant in a story with Satoko at the center.

You're still being passive aggressive. I'm not trying to explain "every inconsistency" with something that I believe is appropriate for Satoko's life in particular. Also, what inconsistency?
Anyhow, I'd say that "people change and are molded by their situations" always applied to Satoko more than any other Higurashi character. You can easily see how the traumatic turns of her childhood changed and shaped her to that summer 1983 Satoko we mostly know.

I can understand the writer's intent behind Satoko's latest familial bond. To me, it feels a natural development arising from her environment. But Gou represents that (plus almost everything else) poorly, I think we agree on that.
How Satoko formed close bonds with Rika, how Rika betrayed her trust in St.Lucia, how she accepted to become a looper, how Satoko's solo loops failed, how Satoko turned into a witch... All of these and many other parts could have been done better on screen, but I can understand the writer's intent behind them. I think Gou is pretty much a mediocre anime in terms of how well these things are handled. We're just extra critical because it's very important to us.

So here's something I don't get.
Vier and her lab along with the Three Kings are meant to be bringing about the End of the World, right? But Toujirou, Seshat and the Jestress are working against it. But in order to work against the Three Kings they bring up the Book of Revelation, which has been deemed non-canon and they've tried to wipe it out from history. Shouldn't the opposite be true? Why would the people who want to end the world according to the prophecy of the Book of Revelation want to hide the Book which holds up the end of the world as something noble done by God?

All those seemingly out of the blue post-Matsuri Satoko suicide fragments are ripe for exploration, especially the one where Rika might have accidentally drowned Satoko/think she did. And the possible future fragments after Satoko shoots Rika in the classroom of the two of them jumping out of bed at 6AM and murdering each other every five minutes in their house until they both go totally nuts. Bonus points for Satoko's yandere rape dungeon fragments, or Featherine's lazy movie nights watching this bullshit for a hundred years.

Lion is a magic character that represents a "miracle" version of Yasu, that's why his/her world is literally full of magic bullshit, golden roses and stuff like that. Hell, Will can interact with the family despite being a non-existent meta man.

The "real" Lion never existed in any fragment, but he would definitely be a relatively normal dude. Magic Lion looks androgynous as fuck because it's more comfortable for Yasu to imagine. Lion's entire philosophy about gender and shit is something that s/he came up with at some point in his/her life, but that life was conjured up by Yasu's imagination anyway.

Lion can be whatever gender you want, that's the whole point of the character. They are a fantasy character just like the others.

George also has no reason to stop being a fedora tier cunt because he explicitly said that his love for Shannon and jealousy of Battler's loli waifu is what made him change into the man he's now. Dating Shannon also changed him (he says this several times in conversations with Shannon and Evatrice), which can't happen in this world. The George in Lion's world is an impossibility, because it's based on the real George. Sayo has no idea of the impact she made on him, so he's the same George here despite her absence.

Lion's golden hair, voice, androgynous appearance, perfect life and opinions about gender are also an idealization imagined by Yasu, not a real depiction of what "Lion" would've been like without the accident. In reality he would've been a normal male.

The world itself is clearly full of actual magic, golden roses, a meta dude walking around, Shannon and Kanon coexisting with Lion, people remembering the seating order from a different world, etc. And is made up of pieces of different fragments. It's not a proper parallel world, but rather a fantasy. A wishful dream.

The way the world ends according to Bernkastel makes no sense because there's nobody in the underground room to tell Kyrie about the bomb or hand her a 1 billion yen card, which is necessary to make her decide to complete the massacre.

The reason Bern can make Lion's world end like that is because she previously showed them the truth of the catbox (EP7 Tea Party). By exposing that, and by the very nature of the catbox itself, it's guaranteed that Lion's world cannot end well. Not because it makes sense for things to go wrong there, but because his world is an illusion, equivalent to one of Beato's depictions of magic. The world is forced to end in tragedy regardless of logic because the island exploded IRL. Even this fantasy world can't escape the catbox.

And the reason Lion is allowed to escape with Will by simply "not acknowledging that he's been shot" is because his world is a fantasy. Fantasy doesn't have to be restricted by reality, mystery rules, red truth, or the beginning and end of the catbox. That's why Lion can survive and reject Berns bullshit.

Bern is also lying when she says that out of all the fragments Lion only exists in one and is killed by Kyrie. If this were a proper world, ignoring the obvious magic bullshit and inconsistencies, there would be endless alternate versions of it where events happen differently. How can she claim that Lion only exists in this one fragment? How come there are no worlds where Lion exists and nothing happens? It's because Lion isn't a thing. Or at least this idealized Lion, in this fantasy world. Everything about him and his world is fantasy. Not only did it not happen IRL, but in fact this Lion isn't even how the real person would've turned out. He's an idealization by Yasu. He's fantasy by his very nature, and so is his world. That's why Bernkastel can so easily deny his existence in the entire sea of fragments. He's just not a thing. The EP7 world is an illusion. Lion is no different from the seven stakes. But because of that, he doesn't have to listen Bern or be constrained by reality or the truth.

And before some idiot misreads my post, I'm not saying Yasu isn't male. I'm just saying that Lion is a fantasy character built for the sole purpose of being whatever gender you want, since he's magic character.

I was thinking about that, Vier seems to be the best (but also honestly, pretty loose) fit for that. Vier's lab with Comrade Mario is the one that actually ends the world by fucking up 8MS. Fits in with the whole Revelation theme as well with like
Vier = John of Patmos
Vier's lab = Patmos
Wisdom fragments = God's knowledge
then maybe God can be the voice from the meat lab that says 'child of man' and Heaven is the simulation that the spinal cord and brains are going into that's free of human suffering?

Umineko was never about parallel universes, ''fragments'', right? They suggest that's the case with Bern talking about the sea of fragments, but that's all fiction (including Bern herself). All there is are different tales to fill in the empty catbox, right? So it makes sense that the world of Lion has to be a tale, not a real fragment (specially with all the inconsistencies you mentioned). There would also be no reason for Lion to have that complex about his sexuality in a world where there accident never happened, it was obviously something that was taken from Yasu.

I've been thinking, could there be a route to a good end hidden somewhere in the Gou mess?

The popular opinion here seems to be something like matsuri-1 Rika going back to Hinamizawa and running to rescue that Satoko from the clutches of obashiro in the saiguden. Then returning to Angel Mort where Shion is waiting with Satoshi.

But honestly, that is not a good end for Satoko. Even if Rika comes around, apologizes and changes her behavior, Satoko is still stuck in that special ed school hell and already depressed as fuck.
And that end totally sidesteps what happens to the loopers. Are they just going to somehow transfer into that point and reconcile? Become witches trapped in their own games, while we watch matsuri-1 Rika and normal Satoko get their happy end?

The whole thing about Lion's gender confusion makes me wonder if Yasu came up with him around the time they came up with Kanon. If Kanon's their perception of 'if I'd been acting like a boy, I would be this', Lion might be 'if I had been raised as a boy correctly, I'd have been this'. Lion's their perfect version of a male Yasu, much like Beatrice is the perfect version of a female Yasu.
It would make Lion feel a little more fitting to be in EP8, as a mirror of Beatrice's perfect female Yasu. Plus, it would remove the more obvious pieces of evidence suggesting Yasu is male from play, making it actually ambiguous again (if you ignore the whole 'man from 19 years ago' thing, anyway), since of course it would all point to male if Lion was intended to be male in her head.
It'd explain a few of the weird bits about Lion too, like the fact apparently his gender complex comes from other people being confused about it, despite the fact literally only his voice and context could make you think he was a girl. If Yasu simply projected their insecurities onto Lion, that sort of thing would make a lot more sense.

I just thought of something interesting. You know how most people interpret Higurashi to be a story inside of Umineko? But what if it's possible to invert the positions in the Venn Diagram and say that Umineko happens inside Higurashi?

The most common, orthodox interpretation goes like this: Umineko is the ''real world'', where literal magic does not exist and there are no parallel worlds (fragments). Higurashi is just a story made by some author, probably a book. But what if Higurashi is the one on a higher plane? That would mean parallel worlds and magic exist in the literal sense (sea of fragments, Hanyuu etc), and the world of Umineko is just one particular fragment in which magic does not exist (or isn't common). All of the tales in Umineko are fictional stories inside a single fragment of reality, but that doesn't mean there are no other fragments out there.

I can't remember, but I don't know if it ever says the massacre happens in that world. It only shows Lion being killed by Kyrie, which is still plausible considering they all needed money and weren't happy with him being the successor.

This isn't the only fragment Lion exists in. It's the only fragment Lion exists in that Bern could find after searching through 2.5 million of them (giving Lion about a 0.0000004 chance of existing in any fragment). The number of fragments should be near endless - but it's likely not that easy to actually search through them.

The fact that Takano experienced a happy life with Tomitake after Matsuribayashi would make her more likely to give up, especially when she was already on the fence the whole time. We only saw the worlds where she goes through with it because Lambda manipulated the odds so Rika couldn't find any world where she gives up.

It's like how Shion became good to Satoko after her Meakashi fuck up. Takano would be less willing to murder Tomitake if another version of herself experienced all that, especially if she also faced legal consequences of her coup attempt. Saving Tomitake and surrendering before doing anything makes perfect sense if she's having strange dreams about all that.

No one has ever solved Umineko, anon. It's an infinite monkey type of situation: an army of autists on forums spammed countless hypothesis and one of them had to stick. Unfortunately it was one of the most unsatisfying, lame answers possible. Since the manga corroborates that interpretation, its seen as 'canon', but going exclusively by the VN, several different, incompatible theories can be considered ''valid'', thus making the goal of definitely ''solving the VN'' an impossible task. That's was true when it was completed, and even more so at the earlier stages, so those retards saying ''I've solved the VN before the fourth text line in chapter one'' are just memeing on you and looking to get their ego stroked.

I've been with a few girls in my life and one thing I've noticed is that the female anus is incredibly close to the vagina, in fact they're barely an inch apart.

I'm not sure about other guys - but doesn't this disturb you? It feel like a design flaw in women actually -- like they're supposed to be so feminine and beautiful yet this ghastly little oversight is ruining everything.

Somehow it feels to me that girls should be more aware of this flaw and it should affect their confidence. Whenever I see a so-called beautiful girl walking down the street so care-free thinking she's all that I just remember her anus is only 1 inch away from her pussy and laugh her into oblivion.

Females: Please accept that they're too close together, let it negatively affect your confidence and so make yourselves more readily available sexually as a result. Afterall, we're having to sleep with a creature whos ANUS is only 1 inch away from the vagina --- you should not make this difficult. It's unappetizing enough as it is. We're doing you a favour.

Men: Do not let girls forget this flaw, and do not forgive them for it. Remind them of it constantly less they get inflated egos and think they're all that

They're just too close together, sorry, but its true.

I think using unreliable narration to justify the existence of a single person larping as different characters in the same place at the same time makes for a terribly unsatisfying explanation for the mysteries. It sounds more like a legal loophole and less like a well written story. Yes, it might technically be valid if the author really forces the story in that direction, but that doesn't mean it makes for a satisfying read. Any other explanation that do not rely on such a cheap trick, while also being consistent with the characters and themes are better to me.

Higurashi wasn't a game taking place in a literal gameboard with meta entities arguing in a higher plane. All the references to Higurashi in Umineko are nothing more than metaphors using Umineko terminology, which is pretty obvious when you reread those scenes.

-Higurashi wasn't a gameboard like Umineko, it took place in actual fragments that were all equally real.

-There was no "game" between supernatural entities. It was just Lambda guaranteeing that Takano's efforts would be rewarded in all realities as long as she didn't lose her willpower or someone else had more willpower to oppose her.

-What they mean by "game" is that Hanyuu saved Rika and they tried to overturn the fate promised by Lambdadelta, indirectly challenging her without even knowing she's a thing. It's am indirect game between Hanyuu and Lambda's certainty, taking place across actual parallel universes.

-The "bad game master that caused a logic error and burdened her piece with it" is Hanyuu. Her decision to save Rika started a fight between her and Lambda's guaranteed fate.

-"She started the game herself but lost sight of her goal halfway through". This means she eventually abandoned the original goal of saving Rika, considering it hopeless, and kept telling her to give up and simply enjoy living eternally in june. The game lost its purpose and had no end in sight, because Hanyuu and Rika stopped trying to find a solution. This is what Lambda meant by "logic error". It was a game with no goal, existing for its own sake. It has nothing to do with the literal logic error of Umineko.

-"She left the thinking entirely to her piece". This is self-explanatory. Rika was the only one trying to solve shit and escape, while Hanyuu decided to be useless and told Rika to stop trying to find an exit to the maze.

Higurashi was game in metaphorical terms. But it wasn't a fictional reality created by a GM, it didn't involve truth battles, the opponents didn't even realize the other existed, and the logic error was simply a loss of interest by the person who started the whole thing, turning the game into an endless nightmare with no reason to exist.

If there is a real logic error, it will happen in Gou and it will be an error in the matrix. But if the talk in EP6 was referring to the original Higurashi, it was talking about Hanyuu and Rika's loops in metaphorical terms, not as some fictional gameboard.

With the Reconcilsphere completely destroyed, the sun’s rays directly shone on the land. Basically, what I'm saying is that it wasn't literally or officially any sort of game, only from the perspective of Rika, Hanyuu and Lambda (who learned about it afterwards if she really is stuck as Satoko the whole time).

A real gameboard would involve fake realities, pieces that can be written by the GM to act a certain way, rewinding time within the same fragment, and soulless pieces with no future beyond the end of the game. Higurashi was clearly shown to be a series of real parallel worlds that go on forever after Rika dies, not mere games. They are games for Rika because that's how she sees it, but they aren't really "games" at all.

I think the logic error already happened and it is the one you pointed out regarding Hanyuu.
What happens now is when the game master actually awakens to play the game, which is pretty much what Satoko is. She knows all the rules already and able to bend the outcome by her will first, something like rearranging the pieces before Rika makes her first move. Though Featherine is more like in Bern's position but reversed. She's on the game master side, while Erika is the player against Battler. Though I still believe that she's doing something to the fragments that Satoko fails to notice. (The statue and etc.)

>-Higurashi wasn't a gameboard like Umineko, it took place in actual fragments that were all equally real.
Umineko also took place in fragments, as shown by Bern literally mentioning fragments when talking about the one where Lion exists. Quit making shit up. Hell Umineko is MORE real than Higurashi which is just a book in Umineko, whereas the rokkenjima game board is based on real people that lived in Ikuko's world. Hell, he has a real Ushiromiya as her...partner.
>-There was no "game" between supernatural entities.
Yes there was, Bern constantly refers to it as a game where Lambda was her opponent, and she was.
> It was just Lambda guaranteeing that Takano's efforts would be rewarded
Also known as a witch giving powers to her miko, which also happens in Umineko, your point?
>is Hanyuu. Her decision to save Rika started a fight between her and Lambda's guaranteed fate.
The logic error and "losing sight of it halfway through" is implied happened because the game master lost her memories, which we know just so happened to Featherine and Lambda explicitly said the game master was Bernkastel's master. We know Featherine was Bern's master. Kotohogushi-hen is implied to be when this happened, where Featherine's piece was damaged by the Onigari no Ryou, which we know can affect people in the meta level as well.

>But it wasn't a fictional reality created by a GM
Lamda explicitly mentions a game master, Bern's master. Just because it didn't involve red truths and shit doesn't mean it wasn't a gameboard, it's constantly referred to as such throughout Umineko.

There's absolutely nothing that says Higurashi wasn't a game, we know there was a game master, we know there were mikos, we know there were witches, we know there were objectives, we know Bernkastel and Featherine were in it, we know logic errors were in it, we know Bernkastel was just a mere miko who ascended to witch status.

Saikoroshi has Hanyuu regret saving Rika and wondering if it would've been better to let her die back then instead of turning her into an emotionally detached looper disconnected from reality.

Hanyuu is the game master in the sense that she started the thing and set a goal for herself (saving Rika), which she then abandoned and gave up on but still wouldn't let Rika die. It's a hell for Rika created by Hanyuu.

It's not like she literally wrote reality as a creator or caused any of it to happen. She just rebelled against fate and put Rika through all that, unintentionally starting a war against Lambda because Rika's death was necessary for Lambda's human to succeed.

Hanyuu saving Rika is an insult and a challenge against Lambda's power.

That rule was already there since the very beginning. Though Battler never had the detective authority as strong as Erika, just the title and Beato respected that so that's why he was never a culprit/accomplice in the 4 games and he can't see Shannon and Kanon together in one room in all games. They introduced the detective authority because 5 and onwards was the answer arcs, so that's fitting.

>Not to mention how arbitrary that is, even for a fictional tale written by some forger.
That rule was established ever since ep 1 and 2, Yasu's message bottle mind you. All that Ikuko (and possibly Hachijo Battler) did was use that rule in their tales since they fully understand the structure.

You know that the tale is full of illusion right? You crush one of those and you see what's really inside to connect the dots. For example in ep 1 when George was crying about Shannon and Kanon was also there. That whole scene is just an illusion. There was no scene that George cried and there were just 5 bodies in that store room.

>Absurd rules are kind of going to be established when it's a discussion about Magic vs Non-Magic.
The problem is that the VN itself uses this unreliable narration trick on the reader, not on the character (Battler). We see scenes of Kanon, Shannon and other family members interacting, and at the time there is absolutely no reason to assume this ridiculously arbitrary and specific rule: only the POV of the ''detective'' (a position that will only be defined in Chiru) is objective (despite nothing about the tales being objective at all on the bigger picture). Makes zero sense.

I mean, no? This is established early in the VN, it's literally the central conflict of the entire Magic v Mystery thing right? Yeah, but one thing is to deny any explicit depiction of magic, the other is to assume only the detective POV is ''reliable''. Any explicit use of magic is obviously a play on the witches side and could then be ignored in favor of a logical, human interpretation for the events. It would take a huge leap to go from there to ''those scenes when nothing magical happens are not reliable because we don't have the detective using his detective's authority to make sure''.

The fact that these fairly obvious points even need to be clarified at all shows that uminekofags are beyond redemption. Literally incapable of gathering meaning from any text they read.

The big problem of that is: if you take your argument to the logical extreme, you HAVE to question the validity of even the red truths, specially since the source of them is explicitly magical. And once you do that, it's over, there is no ground to stand on. If you don't do that, it means you have to arbitrarily choose where to draw the line. In my particular experience reading the VN, that line was drawn where scenes without any magic elements were solid ground. Apparently I was mistaken, but any other location to draw the line would be just as arbitrary unless you consider EVERYTHING unreliable, including the red truths.

Battler tries to do this initially, but again Beatrice shuts him up and the entire thing continues. The implication is pretty clear - while you can question other things you can trust Red Truth statements. This is expanded on later when people try to lie with the Red Truth, and they literally can't do it. You don't have a similar thing for unreliable narration where you're unfairly tricked into believing it's real, in fact you have multiple normal conversations like Natsuhi speaking to Kinzo off the top of my head, that should make you really fuckin question basic conversations once Kinzo's death is hinted at.

That doesn't make it any less arbitrary and even contradictory (circular reasoning) to accept the red truth. When Natsuhi spoke with Kinzo I though her mental state was a part of her character and the story. Her desperate desire to be accepted and validated by Kinzo made her delude herself into seeing him, having the ''you have the ushiromyia wing imprinted in your heart'' etc. Even now that sounds much better than ''it was all unreliable narration'' which just drains all the complexity and drama out of scenes like this.

>That doesn't make it any less arbitrary and even contradictory (circular reasoning) to accept the red truth
Sure, but it's necessary to establish some form of truth as a foundation and it's told to you that this is the one objective truth that you can follow. It's established that Beatrice set up the red truth as a rule for the game, because otherwise the game wouldn't exist. It's a minor thing, but otherwise Umineko literally wouldn't work.

>Her desperate desire to be accepted and validated by Kinzo made her delude herself into seeing him
That IS unreliable narration.

>which just drains all the complexity and drama out of scenes like this
No, all of the scenes that exist still have drama and complexity, it just has added complexity of them representing things in a more metaphorical manner that hints more about the inner-workings of particular characters than an objective truth of like a conversation in a kitchen.

That's correct. Do you finally understand "Without love it cannot be seen"? There is NO WAY for the author to convince you he's telling the "truth" in a fictional story. 100% OF ALL SCENES never happened! All you can do is look into the story and try to find what you THINK it might have been talking about. The ONLY THING you can see is love, that someone spent SO MUCH TIME AND EFFORT, there MUST be something in there. In other words, the only guarantee is that THERE ARE NO POINTLESS SCENES. If something was show to you, regardless of it's validity, there was a REASON, a WHY DUNNIT! Then you piece together a possible motivation for the author(killer) using various point of "evidence". Out of nowhere, Rika gets into a fight with her best friend. Not just a normal minor argument or squabble, but something serious. Satoko's been acting strange lately, she's so sullen and irritable. And now she's screaming and shouting at Rika, demanding explanations for things Rika doesn't understand. It quickly escalates into a wrestling match. Satoko is being really aggressive, choking Rika and pulling her hair. This is too much, what's wrong with her today? Rika finally gets mad and shoves back, tackling her into the stream.
A brief sensation of vertigo and then icy water impacting her entire body. Rika lets out a yelp and jumps to her feet, struggling to crawl up onto the bank. She lies there for a second, dazed. But soon she pushes herself to her feet slowly, wiping mud and grass off her knees. The sudden shock has cleared her mind and calmed her down.
What a stupid fight, falling to a stream like they're little girls again. Why were they fighting anyway? Something about St. Lucia? It doesn't matter, how childish they were being. Surely Satoko feels the same way, this was just a stupid argument about nothing, and now they're all wet. They'll apologize and make up, and maybe if this is really botherin Satoko they can have a heart to heart and work through this together.
Right Satoko?
Satoko?
Rika looks around, but she's standing alone by the stream, in total silence but for the gentle creaking of the waterwheel. Could it be, is Satoko planning some sort of prank? Is she going to jump up out fo the water and grab Rika's legs, pulling her back in? Rika jumps backa step and carefully examines the surface of the water. But there's no sign of movement...
"Satoko?"
The sun is setting, and it's getting dark and cold, an icy breeze cuts through her soaking wet clothes.
"Satoko?"
Rika cautiously steps closer to the water, aware that this is exactly what her friend might be planning. Any second now she could be ambushed. But there's no sign movement in the calmly flowing water. No sound but the chilly breeze and the waterwheel creaking. She leans over the water, presenting the perfect target, and quickly screws her eyes shut, bracing for an impact that never comes. A hesitant second later she opens her eyes again, looking downward into the water. The sun has almost set, and as the angle of the light changes, the reflection on the water's surface disappears.
Deep beow the surface, mixing in with the clear blue water, is a thin trace of red.
Suddenly, she's struck with a jolt of electricity, her heart begins to race, a familiar dread starts boiling up in the pit of her stomach, one she thought was never going to return since that night three years ago. She wildly glances around the water, all the way to the bottom it's clear execpt fot at faint strand of red. Where, where, where is she?
Rika casts her gaze up and down the stream. Down, it has to be down, she'd drift with the current, towards the waterwheel. She races down the waterway, scanning the depths for an sign of her friend. Suddenly, she sees it, in the shadow of the bridge, a hint of gold.
Instantly she jumps off the bank, plunging into the freezing water. She strains and fumbles before grasping something solid, cloth, hair, an arm. With all her strength she pulls, but the water is so heavy, since when was Satoko so heavy? Not now, not again, things are supposed to be different now, she's not a little girl anymore, she's not weak and small and helpless. Surely, surely she can do this much?
With the foul dread boiling in her stomach spurning her on, fighting against the icy water, she slowly pulls Satoko out of the water, still, and icy cold. Out of the water, she has to get out of the water, onto the shore. She pulls and kicks, climbs and drags her way out of the water, arms wrapped around Satoko the entire time, and finally, lungs burning, her entire body alternately numbs and electrified, pulls both of them onto the shore.
Satoko isn't breathing, she's icy cold, and unmoving. A smear of red stains her hair and the ground uder her head, bleeding so fast even in this frigid air. Framed by the falling sweep of Rika's hair, her eyes stare unblinking through Rika's own, into the sky. Collapsed on the ground, knees supporting her, Rika's eyes also stare unmoving, downwards into darkness far below her friend. She doesn't move to attempt CPR, or cry out for help, even in the middle of the village. There's no point. So many times, so many times she's seen this expression. It's over.

Maybe, maybe if she hadn't hesitated all those long seconds, afraid of the cold water. Maybe if it weren't for the bright reflections on the water, or the dark shadows under the footbridge. Maybe if she sh hadn't pushed them both into the water, maybe if they'd never had that argument at all. Or maybe there was no avoiding it. Maybe it was inescapable, a rule of the world. Maybe she never really escaped, maybe this is just the beginning all over again. Maybe Satoko is only the first one. Or maybe it was just bad luck, a pointless, meaningless mistake after a pointless, meaningless argument.
She almost laughs, a grimace pulling on the corners of her mouth. But soon, a horrible feeling starts crawling up her spine, worse even than the spreading clenching dread in her guts. Her head slowly tilts to the side, away from Satoko, towards the water. The dark icy water, that in just one breath, just one slip... Maybe... Could she...
This was supposed to be the perfect world, wasn't it? But this isn't right, not at all. Something's clearly wrong.
"Right Hanyuu?"
There was no response. Just the icy breeze and the creak of the waterwheel. That's right, Hanyuu is gone. Without Hanyuu... But maybe... Would it still work? Could it be that simple?
Staring down into the dark water, Rika's thoughts slowly drifted into a spiral. Maybe... But... Maybe... But...
After sunset, at the side of the stream, holding Satoko's unmoving form, staring deep into and through the dark waters below, silent but for the breeze and the creaking of the waterwheel, her lips moving in a vague repeating pattern. In this perfectly still scene, they found her.

Also even in this episode she had to ask notFeatherine to allow Rika's memories to transfer through loops.

The end is just Rika using the shard to kill Satoko and them both going back to moments before she enters the saiguden. Rika is fully aware of all that happened and she puts a stop to the meeting between Satoko and featherine. Rika capitulates a bit and apologizes hugging the fuck out of a depressed Satoko and Satoko, being the poorly written character that she is in Gou unfortunately, accepts her apology. They both go to Angel Mort with the gang, they all have a good time and the series ends with both Satoko and Rika working hard at St. Lucia to strengthen their relationship. The end.

The shard would just kill Satoko. There would be no more loops.

Satoko would just be given the same status as Mion or Rena, like in every other loop. She would remember nothing. She can only go mad if there's a witch giving her the chance to fuck things up and in the amount of time that passed between she left school prison and she received Mion's letter, she hasn't attempted to harm Rika once and she even put on appearances in Hinamizawa, hurtful as that might be for her knowing Rika is faking shit as well, without causing any particular trouble.

No, the shard would kill Satoko and then there would be no more loops. Rika can't loop because Hanyuu is gone.
The whole point of the shard was so Rika could kill herself and not have to live through repeating the same two weeks over and over again.

Why wouldn't the original Satoko accept Rika's apology?

Anyways, I refuse to believe in that end. It leaves so many plot points unresolved. How did Rika's looper consciousness get back to the that point in Matsuri-1 fragment? Which matsuri Rika was it that died in 1988 and started looping with witch Satoko? What about Obashiro/neeterine, she's a huge unresolved question in that? She didn't expect her entertainment Satoko to get nullified just like that. Or did she set it all up? Whatever the case, there needs to be quite a bit of closure for her, Satoko and Rika.
This end also turns our "protagonist" Satoko into a mere plot device, just another obstacle for looperino Rika to overcome, while undoing countless episodes of lazy character development with even lazier "lol just a dream" type excuse. I guess that might be the best we should expect from Gou but I still hope for something better.
Matsuri-1 is not even a good end for the original Satoko. She suffered St.Lucia alone for 2 years, is severely depressed and still stuck in the special ed school hell. BUT I guess Rika would finally at least fucking try to be Satoko's friend after seeing how badly her neglect broke witch Satoko.
Finally, this ending sounds too obvious, has been so for a couple of episodes now. Why would something like "bad satok gone, rikasato happy end" sound surprising from VAs point of view? There's going to be a bigger twist than chekhov's gun actually being used to expected effect.
