What is your favorite interpretation of Touhou?

If Sakuya used her time powers when Kaguya is around, if Kaguya wanted to, she could move freely unaffected.
There are some hints of it already in canon, but i like the interpretation that most of the Myouren Temple's Youkai are irresponsible and constantly do stuff Byakuren would reprimand them for if she was around.
Miko is the Stage 6 boss that holds back the most, i don't get the sense that she is the strongest boss or one of the stronget characters, but i do feel that she doesn't give others even a small idea of what she's truly capable of, moreso than any other character.

The SDM is nicely kept and full of fairy maids, but I like to think they also have some truly castlevania-esque shit in there. Some REAL monstrous looking creatures, haphazard torture devices, gateways to other worlds, etc.

The magic library seems to be infinite so at the least, space can get weird in parts of the mansion.

Canon hints at this although I guess it can’t be taken as absolute fact, but unlike other youkai who feast on humans outside the village, I like to think the SDM crew are actually benevolent. Remi only takes enough blood to give a person an itchy neck, plus some for Flandre back home. I like to think this good heart is what converted Sakuya from vampire hunter to servant, and that this friendly approach to people is a big part of why Reimu seems to hang out with Remi a bit more than she does with many other youkai.

While most youkai’s true form is basically a person with some cosplay decorations, I like to think many of them could turn into non-humanoid monster forms if they wanted.

Agreed. I also like benevolent SDM.

My overall interpretation leans far on the side of cutesokyo rather than grimsokyo though, so that's only a small piece in the whole puzzle for me.

I like grimsokyo and I still prefer benevolent sdm. ‘Castlevania but chill’ is just a more interesting and fun idea than the usual alternative.

Plus, canon sort of points to it relative to how a lot of other youkai act. SDM seems to let a human be, if you aren’t breaking into their house. Akyuu’s youkai book even says Meiling sometimes engages in smallchat with traveling villagers and will have friendly spars upon request, but will let you go as soon as you’ve had enough. There’s a little bit of propaganda in her book but I dont think she’d willingly send people to their death. Sakuya is allowed to go to the village for supplies.
