South Korea has a large standing military while Japan has a ridiculous "self-defense force". Without outside intervention, Japan is ultra megafucked on the Sodoma and Gomorrah scale.

However, a war between SK and Japan would sure as hell pull China, NK and USA in and after that everything is too crazy to predict.

I think if there was enough time, or if the battle dragged out, then Japan would win. If it had time to amass an army, or enforce conscription in a time of need, I'm sure they would be able to win.

After all, all they would need to do to succesfully win is to repel the invading force. When you're an island, defending is a lot easier than attacking.
