The greatest problem with AT1 is the lack of organized routes. Being able to complete both girls Cosmosphere at the same time was such a huge flaw it got me wondering what the hell were the makers thinking. What's the point of making two routes if you can have everything?

Aurica was really a turn off. Her depressed atitude throughout the game was VERY annoying. She's just emo: "Boo, I'm incompetent, no one likes me". And that poor plot twist was ridiculous. Misha at least had real troubles to whine about (though I can't see how becoming a loli can be bad). I was disappointed at how badly Shurelia's route was made, though that final battle with Myr was fucking A.

AT2 was much better overall. Not only the game was longer (admit it, the first one was too shor for it's own good), but it also had better stuff and was more well structured. Limited Cosmosphere depending on what route you were, interessing battle system, more video sequences.

The protagonist was actually nice. Yeah, Lyner was a bro, but Croix is a better man. Cloche's route was really good to play, with some pretty realistic events. I won't comment much on Luca since I haven't played her route yet, but until now she looks like an evolved Aurica. Now, Jacqli...she is just awesome. And badass. Cocona was DO WANT

Then there are the hymnos. Holy fuck, that's a tough matter. Both games had awesome musics. AT1 had less hymnos, but they were on an epic level. AT2 had more music, but only a few were as good as AT1's.

Also, HARMONIOUS and REPLAKIA, best two hymnos of both games.

The problem I had with Luca was that she was a bigger bitch than Cloche. Cloche had been trapped in her role, and was trying to save the world, while Luca turned out to be a manipulative little cunt who was using everybody to save her sister.

And then it turns out that Cloche was tortured into doing whatever the church wanted, so I never had any regrets about going with the Cloche path on the initial split.

That said, AT2 was still trash. I'm so glad they seem to have dropped that franchise to spew out a billion half-assed Atelier games. God forbid they keep developing the Mana Khemia battle engine instead of taking giant steps backwards.
