continuing yesterday's tread.

To Incest guy: I have a question for you. Apparently you and I share the same taste in this sort of thing. I to much prefer the story and the love over the sex. Do you know of other good games like Hatsukoi, involving loli and/or incest, and with a really good story, not just sex, but translated? Or at least with some way or an other to read what they say. I'm into things like love, cuteness, adorability, cuddling, happyness, etc.

Also, just by curiosity, what game are you working on translating at the moment?

To anyone else, don't hesitate to share if you know of any such game.

for those of you who didn't follow last tread, it was about one of the best incest game out there, Hatsukoi, which you can find here:

I answered you yesterday, must've fallen off the board before you got it. If you like loli romance the only other one I've got for you is Oyatsu no Jikan which is awfully cute. Not as good as Hatsukoi but it's got it's moments. I especially loved Chocolate. Ice Cream was meh, Pudding was ULTRA LOLI; I mean, she acts like, looks like, and sounds like a 6 year old which is way too much for me, Shiratama was ok, Shortcake was cute, but Chocolate was GODLY. It's got more sex than I'm comfortable with but it was cute enough I didn't mind. Not translated.

Those files are pretty worthless for me, they're basically script files and I have 0 computer experience which was obvious during the last thread.

The only game that's really cute with a good story that's translated is Wanko to Kurasou which everyone knows about and 99% of /jp/ has played.

Kiss Me! Me! was cute but meh, I give it a 5 out of 10. I dunno, I liked Haramin well enough to recommend it I suppose. The best friend route was the good one but your little sister is sweet too. The other games by Swaneye weren't as good.

The little sister route in Koichu Koi ni Koi Suru Kata Omoi was nice. There were some decent moments in it but it's not a great game.

Give me time to finish reading through Clover Point which is another game often given very very high rankings and I'll probably have another title for you to enjoy.

Obviously I played with the options to try to get something a bit more comprehensible. I could get Japanese characters by selecting EBCDIC, but it seemed to be the same badly interpreted data, just with random Japanese characters inserted into it.

Started looking through the files today. Yesterday was kinda fun, Ponyo and all. Anyway, I don't know if I should be touching some of this shit. I'm not even sure what part of the game this takes place in yet but I've just been browsing Practically every line says Anzu even when I'm pretty sure she's not speaking. There's a few lines that say Jin, the default name for the protagonist but it just repeats the kanji a couple times then repeats the kanji for Anzu and says a line of text.

I really don't know if I'm supposed to be translating every kanji that says Anzu or if those lines are used by the program for something ... like, voiced lines or whatever.

Translated just 3 easy lines. If someone could check out what it does to the game that would be great.

In an effort to help the translation, I will post here some the info and files I think are important, at least to get started, for easy access to those working on this translation project, and anyone who would like to help.

Hatsukoi is rated among the best of the incest games. From the original poster: "It's what I believe would happen if two siblings really did fall in love." You can download it here:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2CGBVJMX

Official site: http://products.rune.jp/catalogue/r011hatsukoi/

We are working on decompressing the actual files, which can be found here (I think):

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=679d095c1bc2d55e931c7453395df025ff233dc7a2237f61ce018c8114394287

Some really smart person also found a way to get the Japanese text from the memory dump. It might not be the cleanest way to do it, but it seems we now have the entire Japanese texts from the game! It can all be found here:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2XEBXHD2

Now these files are admittedly pretty hard to read as is. It was mentioned that by using a hex editor, we can search and replace 00 with 0D0A or 0x00 with 0x0D 0x0A or something like that, to increase legibility, like these 2 parts here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?chzmw2jm2mj

I'm not sure how to do this exactly, but it would certainly help the translator to know, as for now they are pretty hard to read.

I'll see what I can do.

are you running it with jap locale?

An env.key was made.
That's the only .key I see
Will that be sufficient enough?

because when I ran it without jap locale, it didn't need the disc, but with it it did for some reason

So what's the status here? You got what you needed?

>> No.3268912

Anonymous putting in all their efforts to translate instead of just leeching ? Whoa, and I thought I've already seen everything in 4chan.

Yes, I'm a leech

with the 160MB version?

>> No.3269138

>>3268941
no, with full. Maybe that env.key is hardware dependent and generated upon installation, because mine is different from the uploaded one.

bump for great project

I've discovered that env.key is xor'd with 0x0D, so it's possibly to modify it, though there's a hash that I have yet to find out what is it from.

How's the work going?

MOTHERFUCKING JESUSCHRIST

I finally managed to run the game. In order to run without cd you need a valid env.key and run hatsukoi.bin (renamed to something.exe). But the trick is getting a valid env.key, since it's created from info of your system.

Reversing how the env.key is created would take too much time, so I tried a crazy approach. I downloaded the full game from a dedicated server, extracted the cd images and shared the folder through NFS.
Then I mounted that remote shared folder in my system, shared it through samba to the vmware and finally mounted the cd with daemon tools. After 5 minutes the game finally started and created the precious env.key.

tldr: managed to make the 160MB version work and can start reversing how the scripts are decoded

Nice. Keep up the good work.

>> No.3270968

Sleeping time. The decompression function is quite easy, with only a couple of tweaks I can reuse the code from another project (japs sure love their lzss).

Tomorrow more.

bump this awesome project.

I'm going to see if I can get it running without env.key, or otherwise just bypass this protection. Would you prefer an env.keygen or a patched EXE?

>> No.3272389

>>3272073
Well, that was easy...

offset prev new
00042CF4 [74 08] [90 90]
00042E04 [74 08] [90 90]
00042F14 [74 08] [90 90]

Patch those 3 places and it won't ever need an env.key or user.key

Now, to start figuring out GML_ARC...

>> No.3273379

Woah! I can't believe how much progress you guys are making! And yet I have no clue whatsoever of what you guys are talking about half the time :P So I've got to say, I'm impressed!

>> No.3273386

>>3272389
GML_ARC doesn't need to be reversed at the moment. The extracted scripts are already posted and if you put them in a folder named scenario.xp the game will load them from there.

>> No.3273472

>>3273386
Just bumping for another update: GML_ARC format has now been 99% documented. The scenario.xp workaround is interesting, but being able to pack the scripts back into one neat package is even better.

I'll take my nightly rest now. I'm expecting to have working extract/import tomorrow.

>> No.3274704

Well, I've figured most of the script decoding, so I'll start coding something.
