I've got some questions on Rider's eyes. At first I thought they were almighty hax that made anyone instantly turn to stone, but apparently not.
The wiki says:
>Those who possess Rank C or lower in Mana will be immediately petrified, while those with Rank B or higher won’t be petrified, but will have their powers hindered by the Eyes, receiving a one rank-down to all parameters.
Do you still slowly turn to stone if Rank B?
And, what if you're Rank A? No affect at all? So basically, Caster is her worst enemy.

And my last question is, where does she get those glasses from? Suddenly she has glasses at the end of HF. I'm assuming they work exactly like Tohno Shiki's?

Archer has a rank B in mana and he wasn't instantly petrified like Rin and Shirou where. He was being slowed down and slowly petrified, but he was still managing to fight.

As for Rider's glasses, Rin made them out of clear beryl.

The one who made them originally can make a pair or two.
And Black Saber is 'Rank A' in magical energy plus Rank B auto-magic resistance, hence me pointing the fight as an example. Does not get petrified, but she is weighted down considerably, and rider can keep up with her for a short while.

I've never thought about it that way, but the only description we have of Shiki's glasses is that they're indestructible.

I seriously doubt Nasu did any research into gem lore when doing Fate. Ironically though, the word Beryl comes from the German word for glasses, Brille. When glasses first came about they were actually made from clear beryl, the same mineral that Emeralds, Aquamarines, Hildore and Morganites come from. Clear beryl is called Goshenite.
