Why oh why is this game so beautiful?

I've yet to find a VN, no, a story with as much raw emotion, beauty, and horror as Saya no Uta. The characters just felt so real, and the situation surreal and morally ambiguous. It just felt nothing like another run of the mill eroge. To me, this game is so much more.

I'm torn between the two endings. The whole scene with Ryoko and her past with the shotgun added so much character to Kouji, as well as his defeat of Saya and Fuminori in the end.

But with the themes of the story in general, the ending where Saya blooms is the best and most fitting ending.

If only there were a way to combine them both without ruining it.

I just finished saya no uta and have to admit that I'm kinda disappointed. All 3 endings seemed kinda short(well the first one was kinda "BAD END" thing so I don't mind it) overall not completely wrapped up. The final ending (kouji and doc vs. fuminori and saya battlan) even missed the fuminori PoV and he/even the player never really see what saya really is.

overall rating: 6/10.

Funny, I just logged on /jp/ after finished Saya for the first time, was actually surprisingly good (or I'm just tired of all the moemoe and high school shit and needed a change of pace, who knows)

I couldn't see it getting another visual novel covering before or after the story, but a short manga series or a reasonably long oneshot could probably cover one or both. Either that, or a re-release with more content, but this came out in what, 2003? I don't think we'll see anything else, not that it particularly needs it, everything was covered quite well.

You didn't need the Fuminori POV, because while Kouji would be a monster to him, he knew it was Kouji he was fighting, so it was pointless. By that point in time, Kouji was more or less the new protagonist anyway.

You weren't supposed to see Saya's true form.

I don't know. It sort of overused gore simply to shock, which I felt cheapened the game a bit. Just not my type of horror I guess; I prefer things to be more subtle. For a VN I guess the horror aspects of Moon. would fit. I wish there was more to that game though.

Saya does have awesome art. And the music is all right for the most part; the main songs I like are Schizophrenia and the main theme. I don't listen to that OST very often though.

The average VN is a sex romp set in generic high school #41832 with shitty character development and no real overarching story. Maybe you could get away with saying slightly better than the average VN that focuses on the story, but you don't understand the shit you would get if you picked a random eroge.
