I'm currently unable to play the Touhou/Castlevania crossover game. Whenever I hit the .exe, the startup simply crashes and nothing goes on. Any help is appreciated.

>> No.3162803

run it with applocale

>> No.3162801

The files in System32 are causing a conflict with the game. Deleting them will fix the problem.

>> No.3162816

Oh yes, also I have my computer on japanese regional settings. And I wanted to ask if the .dll files that come with the game, do they work or are they corrupted?

Don't be a faggot.

As for OP, delete the moonspeak in front of the Data and Lib folders, then try again.

I renamed both the folder and .exe into english and still errors me. Any other suggestions?

What's the error?

>> No.3162893

Visual basic kicks in and says random win32 error occurred running the .exe.

Strange. Never got that.

Do what I did:

You renamed the folders already, so we can get that outta the way.

Mount the Touhouvania .iso or whatever, then go into the disk and open the folder named "files". Open that, and copy EVERYTHING from there into your folder where you installed your game. Overwrite and all that shit.

Then it should run, it solved all my problems. If it doesn't, I hate to say it, but to put it bluntly, you're screwed unless someone else has had this problem.

>> No.3162985

The game isn't good bro. If you can't get it to run, don't worry about it.

THEN DEBUG IT, FAG.

>> No.3163034

I'm pretty much screwed then. As for debug attempt, even VB won't open it, it errors there too. Thanks for the attempts Anons.

>> No.3163055

I just installed it with Applocale on a "thvania" folder, then ran the game (with its original Japanese name) with Applocale yet again and it worked as perfectly as this computer can run it.

Yeah. Good character art, bleh sprites, and infuckingsane difficulty mainly due to Reimu's attacks having almost no range. Getting inside of China's attacks without losing half your life is practically impossible.

It isn't a good game. Play Megamari or wait for the chain game.

I didn't find it that hard, to be honest. But it just wasn't fun. The bosses are all awfully designed, where you're only in danger for trying to attack them.

Mei Ling is a stupid as hell boss though given that her side/diagonal/side shots accidentally trap you into eating her kick.

Still, you can't graze 90% of the later bosses. You just have to DERP WHIP WHIP WHIP them while invincible.

>> No.3163238

I actually did enjoy it. It makes me recall my childhood with the early Castlevanias.

Meiling is really easy as long as you don't try and be stupid and duke it out in a damage race.

Walk up to her and whip her in the face on the diagonal shots, duck and whip her on the vertical/horizontal ones and start flying when she's about to kick. All of the shots + kick should miss you. Now drop down and as she's firing the rainbow wind chime-esque shot, machine gun her with cards.

Repeat this about 3 times and you win, easily.

Run it and then run japanese stuff through it. Install it with that. Then rename the japanese folders.

>> No.3164542

China is easy, you can get 2-3 hits by judiciously jump-whipping her on the X and + pattern shots, flying isn't recommended when she does her kick since you risk getting hit by the kick and losing half of your life. Just slide to the other side of the room or low-graze on the shots and then whip her when she does her rainbow spread.

Patchoulli on the other hand, now there's a bitch, the area is so small, her shots are spread so that you can only avoid them via grazing and getting hit by her colored shots will remove a third of your life. Yes you can avoid it, but make one mistake and you lose so much life, doesn't help that her stage is a real bitch-troll too.

Alice also deserves some mention just because if you're low on life and you want to get her orb, Shanghai pops up and fucks your shit so you can play with Alice again.

cirno and marisa is the only partner in the game right? no other playable characters?

oh, for patchy i hit the books before the spells get too big, i still died alot though.

>> No.3164571

Just wondering. To fight Flandre, do you need to do more than just a 1CC? Or you aren't allowed to fuck around with the config?

Also fuck Suika in the ass. Seems like the explosion of her bullets is insta-kill.

>> No.3164573

I've never seen pass Sakuya. I just can't get her pattern down.

>> No.3164599

>>3164542
Patchy becomes a derp fest once you realize her books hurt you for chip damage. Keep touching her books and whipping her like a government mule.

>>3164571
Suika's bullet explosion is fucking retarded. You have to really kite her LARGE transformations to even stand a chance. It's stupid as hell.

>> No.3164622

I can beat the first 4 stages without losing a life. After that, I'm screwed. On average 3-4 lives per boss lol.

Actually, the last stage I can beat in 2... It's just Suika - Patchouli - Sakuya 2: Electric Boogaloo that rape me. The boss endurance is actually quite easy since they all take a lot of damage and Remilia has a pretty easy to avoid pattern.

By my obsessive-compulsive standards, that's cheating, but yes it works.

>>3164571
First she'll toss daggers straight(pass), then the wall-bouncing ones(slide under, whip from behind or jump in the middle whip), teleport and cast some delayed knives(you can slide under her and whip again or if she's floaty, just standing whip will hit), and then do her little circle of knives thing that you should just avoid.

For most boss battles, avoid flying as a means to fight them you do so little damage and the ammo is better used for Marisa's support shot.
Suika is easy actually, wth easiest after Cirno, Sakuya and China. First patterns are easy to predict and dodge, when she grows you do one of two thhings.

1. If she's near ground level, fly up and to the far opposite of her, be sure you lure her near the left or right side.

2. If she's pretty high up on the screen, WAIT FOR HER WHITE TRANSFORMATION CIRCLE to dissipate, slide under and to the far opposite side.

While she transforms you can take pot shots at her, you can do this without getting hit once, takes a while though. If you're in a hurry/retarded you can bum rush her while she does her first two shots.

if you still can't get the game running, try enable "win95 support" in .exe options. It worked for me.

>> No.3166122

Game actualy has cirno as a support character (after 1.2 update, i think). And the game is easier a bit. I'm stuck at the second Sakuya encounter.
