I have Disgaea DS, though admitting I do enjoy the PSP version better because it has a few more features.

Professor layton and the curious village is also a pretty good game that I enjoyed playing.

Personally, I like competitive battling. The singleplayer game is far too easy to play with. You don't need friends, I just battle people online.

I sorta like Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier.

Unlike the other games, it's not strategy, and it doesn't have nearly as many characters, but it's still quite tongue-in-cheek and rather enjoyable to play. I'd recommend it.

Fire Emblem is my favorite series ever, I'm just disappointed that there's only one for the DS. I've also played the shit out of Kirby Super Star Ultra; beat it over a dozen times by now.

Etrian Odyssey seems to be the JRPG that screams /jp/ the most. Niche, balls hard difficulty, and Japs on 2ch/Nico/Pixiv love it too. I like 2 better than 1, though. I just wish SOMEONE would localize 7th Dragon already since it seems to be EO + Dragon Quest.

I haven't done the calculations but Fire Fang should still be pretty shitty even after a Sword's Dance. Between Outrage/Dragon Claw and Earthquake, pretty much the only reason to use a Fire attack is Skarmory, Fortress and Scizor, all of which have lower Special Defense.

Rune Factory 1&2 are great. Really fantastic games.

Currently, I've been reading novels with VNDS. Really makes the DS worth the money, along with the long list of other cool things the DS can do.

I've slowed down on playing Etrian Odyssey, just because it's so easy. Got to the 26th floor, and it's a fun game, but there is absolutely no difficulty to the game at all. I absolutely stomp every monster and boss in my way in 1-2 turns, so it's not even close to a challenge.

Started playing Devil Survivor, and it's pretty awesome. The music is good too, but I guess that's to be expected from SMT. It's a pretty good survival game.

I'm surprised Jump Ultimate Stars hasn't been mentioned yet, as it's fucking amazing. I've done a full clear of everything in the game, and it's still fun as hell.

It's about trying solve a case about a cursed 8 bit RPG game and you basically have to run away from ghosts. It sounds simple but it really does have genuine scary moments and the breaking the 4th wall by using the DS in the game is fucking brilliant. Import it. The story is simple and real meat is the gameplay.

The R4 isnt the king anymore on non-dsi's. Get the CycloDS for non DSi, and R4 for DSi if you have a DSi (or wait for a DSi cyclo)

I know like 3 people whose CycloDS:s broke pretty soon after they got them.
I used a M3 simply for ~2years, now I am using TTDS. Its really cheap in dealextreme and works fine.

Definitely the cycloDS. Real R4s aren't that easy to find among all the fakes out there, not to mention the official team stopped supporting it since mid '08. CycloDS supports SDHC cards and their team is pretty consistent about updating the firmware to include the latest anti-piracy circumventing measures.

That said, the only flashcart I own is an R4 from 3 years ago.

Mostly if you want to know the story, but the gameplay is trial and error and pretty precise when luring/running ghosts away. There's a guide at Gamefaws that will help you with that.

Princess Debut was actually a pretty good game. I'm surprised /jp/ wasn't all over it when it was first released since half the gameplay is the VN/date-sim parts. Luciano is a fucking sexy beast.

He's partially right. PS3/360 has too much SHOOTAN and the Wii has little 3rd party support that's actually decent. If you want to play any decent Japanese games, the DS and PSP are pretty much your only choice.
