The UFOs are still a dumb idea though.

Thanks OP. The UFOs were confusing the hell out of me.

Though trying to catch them why dodging a bullet is not something I would enjoy doing.

>> No.3142916

This is a shit thread already, so... was an iso of UFO posted, or do we just have that rar? I want to do proper installation.

>> No.3142922

Firstly, it's a shit macro "blue ufo gives a score bonus, i think?" Great. Nice one.

Secondly, when people are complaining about something it isn't always because they don't understand it.

>> No.3142923

blue ufo doubles the point multiplier.

>> No.3142931

What's the point of explaining it if you don't say what the blue UFO point multiplier algorithm is?

>> No.3142934

OP forgot some important things. If you feed the green UFO enough, it will drop a full bomb. If you destroy it, it will drop a piece of bomb. You need 3 pieces to make a full bomb.

About Rainbow UFOs, if for example it absorbs 10 power items and 30 point items, when it is destroyed it will return 10 point items and 30 power items (you will autopick them). Useful when you're low in power.

The problem isn't how the system works, you dumb fuck. It's that OH NO I'M AT A PART WHERE I'M SUPPOSED TO HAVE A BIG UFO TO CLEAR THE SCREEN AND I HAVE TWO GREEN UFOS AND THE ONLY UFO FLOATING AROUND ONSCREEN IS RED

>> No.3142970

I thought I'd 1cc SA before I start with UFO.

Sadly I still screw up too many small things. Current best run is "die right after winning the game, get game over".

The UFO system was made clear months ago.
The only reason someone wouldn't know about it is because he got into Touhou yesterday.
Oh, wait...

>> No.3143014

It's an annoying system because there are some ufos that just stay blue and those dont ever seem to change at all. Other times it's when you just get a mini ufo of a color but right before you get it, it changes color

>> No.3143029

There's one thing about the UFO system that has been preying on my mind ever since the demo was released. Does the color switching speed vary depending on your distance from the UFO? I think I've read something along these lines before, but I wouldn't swear on it.

The problem has never been people having trouble understanding. Collecting 3 colours or 1 of each colour, filling them up and getting a tasty colour-based treat is pretty simple.

Th problem is the game has fixed UFO's. These are bad for several reasons, for a survival run you basically have to wait for these to time out or grab another colour - this isn't an amazing problem.

For a score run you basically need to know the entire route, what colours to collect and, if you make a mistake by failing to fill a UFO or collecting the wrong one, you are out of sync and your route is trash.

Now, you don't care about scoring, as is evident by you not knowing what blue UFO's do, but that is irrelevant. That is still the problem people are complaining about. Not people having problems with colours, counting and shapes.

The multiplier ranges for the UFOs are:

* 0 to 1 for Red UFOs
* 0 to 2 for Green UFOs
* 0 to 4 for Flashing UFOs
* 0 to 8 for blue UFOs

Blue UFOs are potentially best for increasing score. When defeated, they drop a small UFO and give you points.

Red UFOs are for life parts. When its multiplier circle is full, a red UFO drops a life part, and when defeated, it drops a small UFO, a life part, and several power items.

Green UFOs are for bomb parts. When its multiplier circle is full, a Green UFO drops a full bomb, and when defeated, it drops a small UFO and a bomb part.

Flashing UFOs change the items the suck in; power items will become point items and point items will be power items. This has strategic use in certain stages where a lot of power item drops are concentrated within a short time span. When the multiplier circle is full, a Flashing UFO drops a small UFO, and when defeated, it also drops a small UFO.

When defeated, a UFO provides a score bonus based on how far the score multiplier is filled.
