Ok /jp/, here's the deal.

I'm interested in playing a VN, but have absolutely NO idea how to with all these patches and other terms which are like moonspeak to me. I tried to, I really did try to set several up for myself, but I failed miserably each and every time. No, today I will learn, and I ask of your honorable anon guidance.

Pic very, very much related.

Is he talking about using applocale? Or can he just not install a game?

You extract, go into the english folder and run onscripter.exe

some work and time but backup or other way to install
http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=torrentinfo&tid=44990

Grab the patch from witch-hunt.com.

Set your computer to Japanese locale (Google if you don't know how, there's an animesuki thread if you need it) and install the file from the torrent with Daemon Tools. Unzip the patch into your Umineko folder. If you're using XP, run on-scripter.exe and you're good to go. If you're on Vista, you have to run on-scripter.exe with AppLocale. Download that from the Microsoft website.

That's true, I had that problem. OP should take note: do NOT use applocale. Instead, go to your Regional & Language Options in the Control Panel and set the "Language for non-Unicode programs" to Japanese.

What? You guys are still using the ancient XP? It is time to switch to win7.

>> No.3119648

Actually, install the game after you've changed your computer's locale to Jap; then just use the witchhunt.exe for EP4, which works fine without having to go through applocale.

That's what I said in >>3119581, are you guys reading right to left now or something? I would never recommend using applocale, it sucks.

>> No.3119656

If that works, sure. OP probably wouldn't have anything to lose by setting his computer to Japanese anyway, though.

I been using win7 for a few months.
Everything seem to be working fine. If there is any compatibility issue running some doujin games in windows mode, you just need to get a D3DWindower and it is done. Sure XP is stable but it is time to get some new eyecandy.
