Pretty sure it was Wataru that wanted the maps gone. It's pretty sad because they were extensive and well made. The depths – previously the deepest location in the game – and almost everything leading to them were removed for example.

I think so, unfortunately along with wataru’s maps another authors maps were also removed (flickering lights lab, butterfly forest, underground volcano).
They were removed because the author is putting them in their own game I think? Which is pretty fuckin stupid if you ask me.

So there’s been a lot of lost ground to regain.

I've given it some thought, though it'd necessarily have to be something kept quiet. I doubt the project managers/contributors would look kindly upon us repackaging content that was supposed to be "removed."

It'd probably be a matter of adding back the material and re-establishing links to the removed maps in a newer version.
There wouldn't be wallpaper unlocks in them (unless someone wanted to go the extra mile to move those back) but it should suffice to see the content.

Keeping up with updates to the main version, however, would probably pose the greatest hurdle.
