-The first round of Friendly Fleets have been implemented for E-1, E-2, E-3, and E-4 main bosses.
-The Fall 2020 Event, Escort! Fleet Transport Operation, is underway. It is a medium-scale event of 4 maps, 3 in the Main Operation (Europe Part) and 1 Extra Operation. In the MO, the Italian destroyer Scirocco (E-1), british light cruiser Sheffield (E-2), and the mighty USS Washington (E-3) have been implemented. The EO takes place off Luzon/Ormoc Bay and the reward is Matsu-class destroyer Take.
-The new event equipment from the MO is the 533mm Triple Torp Mount (M53-39), the Arctic Gear & Deck Personnel, and the Do 17 Z-2.
-The October ranking rewards have been distributed. The new equipment is the 6inch Mk.XXII Triple Gun Mount.
-New and returning Christmad mode CGs have been implemented.
-As of the Feb 28 maintenance, due to the ongoing DDoS attacks, measures have been taken that requires players from certain countries to use a Japanese IP address to connect to the Login servers. After getting to the start screen it's possible to disconnect from the VPN and continue playing without it. If you still encounter connection issues try clearing your cache and changing your time zone to JST. These countermeasures are temporary as of right now. EN EO now bypasses the block. Another possible workaround is using https://github.com/Tibowl/KCCacheProxy

I tried running 4 CV similar to what Zekamashi had, but in almost 100k worth of fuel in attempts, I only had 2 close calls (one with 72 HP on the boss, another with 90 HP). The boss was almost always going into night battle with green HP and all main fleet ships alive. In the end, it really just seems to boil down to hoping your ships snipe the boss, which never seems to happen.

I'm going to try the 3 CV + Washington fleet once I've gotten Washington to level 60 or so. The Jingei FF is leagues better than any other, since I've seen the subs cut-in on the boss for 300+ and you get 5 chances every time.

I think the main downside to the 3 CV fleet will be a weaker airstrike leaving more Na class opening torps. I'm hoping to offset that with a different LBAS setup from what Zekamashi had, where I focus fighters on the first base to try and save bombers on the 2nd and 3rd. With AD on the LBAS, it was wiping out the bombers 75% of the time, but I had much better survival rates on the 3rd base which would get AP.

If all else fails, I'll just wait for better FF and then run away to 丁 if I run out of time.

I really wish I hadn't used Ark on E3.

I have 3 level 90+ Arks from back when I was more active.
Is Ark really that much better? I have trouble with air power though so if I need to replace Akagi with her, that could be really serious since I lack good planes, well, I have good planes but not the top tier ones like pancakes.
Otoh I don't really mind not clearing hard, so I'm just pushing on for now and drop once the end date is announced if the new FF doesn't help, still chipping though, only got 1 S-rank on Green T.

You want to use Ark Royal because she blocks the Washington FFs while still enabling you to use 4CV. The normal 4CV comp is the 3 burger CVs + a fighter mule, so Ark takes the role of the fighter mule. Otherwise, you either need to use Washington + 3CV, or just accept that you will only get the good Jingei FF 1/3 of the time.

As for air power, you can bring Yura (to block the rest of the non-Jingei FFs) and a CAV with all SPF. If you don't have enough SPF, you'll have to drop the Saiun from your fighter mule and hope you don't get red T at the boss. If you still don't have enough air power, then you'll have to either gimp your airstrike or just deal with AP on the route.

I ran the top setup for the kill, which gave me AP on every wave. I only ran it twice so I'm not sure how effective it is, but it felt like fewer bombers got wiped out.

Before that, I was running the bottom setup which was largely adopted from Zekamashi. I had a lot of runs where the bomber on the 2nd base got wiped out without even attacking, which prompted me to try the different setup. LBAS usually ranged between 0-2 Na-class kills.

There was definitely a difference between max ranked LBAS and deranked, but it's a pain re-ranking after every other attempt so I didn't always do it.
